DAP CEC is against the appointment of Perak PAS secretary as Mentri Besar, its 18 assemblymen will away from the swearing-in ceremony tomorrow.
Political observers see this as the beginning of the political tussle in the new coalition government.
It was reported that the Regent of Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah scheduled to meet the three nominated candidates for MB's post at 5.00 pm.
The three candidates are:state DAP chief Ngeh Koo Ham, state PKR treasurer Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi and state PAS secretary Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin.
DAP CEC's reaction came after the Sultan's office announced that State PAS Secretary Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin has been appointed as Perak MB. State DAP Chief Ngeh Koo Ham was appointed as Deputy MB and one more Deputy MB to be named later who is supposed to be an Indian candidate.
If the coalition government cannot agree that Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin be appointed as the new Perak MB, then it should not submit his name.
If it wanted Ngeh Koo Ham to be the new MB, just submit his name. It seems that the state Constitution requires the Mentri Besar to be a Malay and a Muslim. There was also saying that only the Sultan can waive such requirement. Then the coalition government should just ask the Sultan or the Regent of Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah to give a waiver.
It should not submit three names and let the Regent of Perak to decide. Now the Regent of Perak has made a decision and that decision obviously is not in the DAP's favour. The DAP should not create such conflict.
Let see what will happen tomorrow.
