PM:We want more FDIs

The Barisan Nasional government will continue its existing business-friendly policies to attract investors and is prepared to offer further incentives to attract more foreign direct investments.

He said during a 30-minute interview with Bernama TA in a show hosted by Datuk Zuraidah Atan on March 15.

The PM said the BN, despite having won only a simple majority in last week's general election, " will look after their interest" and implement policies that suit them.

He said that the priority now was to form a new Cabinet to reassure the investment community of Malaysia's political scenario and ensure they continue to have confidence in the country.

Of course, the Friday(March 14)'s street demonstration by Penang UMNO members and supporters at Komtar would not be welcomed by the FDI.

It is time for the governments in power to start work hard for the people and country so that we will have peaceful and prosperous nation.

Gerakan acting president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said,"BN component parties must keep to the stand that street demonstration are not the proper way to convey views and express feelings."

The former chief minister said this has been the stand of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Barisan top leadership.

When commenting on the street demonstrations, he said,"as often pointed out by BN's top leaders, such acts may heighten tension and even lead to conflicts if they get out of hand."

Dr Koh said that holding forums and seminars, and presenting memorandums with concrete proposals supported by facts and figures, would be a more fruitful way.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said, "there should be no further issues with the state's policy on the New Economic Policy(NEP).

Lim promised that the state would act fairly towards all Penangites and urged all parties to let it execute the wishes of the people.

He said,"it is time to move forward. Let us make policies that can benefit all the rakyat."

Well, we will have to give time to the newly elected government to start working.
