Mukhriz Mahathir is not resigning from Umno

After the announcement of Dr Mahathir's resignation from Umno on Monday, only former Kedah Mentri Besar Sanusi Junid followed his footstep.

Jerlun MP Mukhriz Mahathir said he is not resigning from Umno, but urged Abdullah to step down as PM and Umno president.

Umno Youth Chief Hishammuddin Tun Hussein condemns Mukhriz Mahathir for setting conditions for Pak Lah to step down as Umno president.

PM Abdullah is shocked at Dr Mahathir’s resignation. He didn’t expect him to leave, but Abdullah says he will continue to fight for the party.


Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah refuted rumours that he will quit Umno, said he will stay on to challenge PM Abdullah in Umno polls in Dec.


Umno veteran and former Kedah Mentri Besar Sanusi Junid also said he has quit Umno, will release official statement later.

We have to wait and see whether other Umno members will follow Tun Mahathir's action. If there are many Umno members followed Tun Mahathir, then it is a very clear signal for Abdullah to step down. If there are only a few members, then Abdullah can continue to be the Prime Minister and do what is necessary as a Prime Minister.

Businessman Chee Kok Wing claimed trial at KL sessions court to 6 bribery charges amounting to RM 3.1 m. He also faces 2 bribery charges in PJ today.
