Rafidah backs legal sports betting

PETALING JAYA: Former Wanita Umno chief Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz has backed legal sports betting saying it will help regulate gambling among non-Muslims.
She emphasised that the issue was about regulating sports betting through licencing to curb the spread of illegal gambling, which had been going on for many years.
“If it is not regulated, we will not be able to know who’s gambling. Maybe underage are gambling. There will be no legal recourse if they are cheated,” she said.
The former senior minister said by regulating sports betting, conditions such as minimum age, maximum betting amount and where gambling operations are carried out, could be laid out.
“Now, illegal syndicates do not have to pay taxes and they play by their own rules. Who knows what their rules are.” she said.

张志伟在服食毒药入院时，病情相当严重，除咀巴溃烂，每天也须洗肾。

医生难以置信
他指于6月12日出院后，曾两次返回医院作检验，今日（周三，6月23日）早上到医院检验时，医生对其原本严重的病情有所好转感到难以置信，并表明有意到他目前居住的地方看看。
他说，上次到医院时，医生曾为他抽血检验，验血报告周三出炉，报告指其身上的毒素已完全清除，而且肝及肾也没有损坏，能正常操作。
“出院后经过一段时间的修养后，如今排便正常，而且体内的疼痛也开始减少，只是肝部因之前大量饮用凉性药物而引发哮喘病，所以比较多痰及常咳嗽。”
他指如今不但可以讲话，也可走几步路，同时可吃软性食物。
医生抱持不乐观态度
出院时被判“死刑”
张志伟说，6月12日出院时，他的病况仍相当严重，医生对其复原抱着不乐观态度，因此他要求出院时，院方也给予批准。
他表示，当时其状况可说是将被判“死刑”了，许多人都相信他是在“等死”，就连自己也认为没有什么希望了。
他说，在医院住了十余天，感到非常痛苦，即然是要死了，他觉得应该在一个比较舒服及宁静的地方待终，所幸获得热心佛友的协助，安排他在一个较偏辟的修行场地，让他有机会接触佛法及修行。
他表示道场的佛友每天读经念佛后都共同回向给他的冤亲债主，以便能离苦得乐同生极乐园。除此，他每天也念地藏经及各种佛经。
佛前向父深表忏悔
发愿持长素当义工
张志伟对自己过去所做所为感到后悔，并在佛前向父亲深表忏悔，发愿在病情好转之后，持长素并当义工，而且要现身说法，告知众人他的经历。
“我到这个修行场所已第5天，身体状况有明显好转，不但能正常排便、进食、讲话，而且之前咀部的溃烂也好起来。”
他表示这是非常不可思议的事，但他深信这是宗教给予的力量，让他得以重生，改过自新。
他表示小时候很喜欢钓鱼，此次咀巴因服毒溃烂非常痛苦，相信这是钓鱼的因果，也让他明了鱼在被钓时的痛苦。
另一方面，张志伟的日常起居，除了由佛友协助，一名中药师也发心照顾，协助其身体更快复原。

打巴副警区主任阿都拉副警捕监，今午在打巴警局召开记者会披露，打巴警方于6月22日晚上约10时45分，由打巴区刑事调查主任莫哈末纳斯里助理警监带领下，在打巴亚亦君令花园某住家单位展开“Ops Soga”突击行动，成功逮捕一对怀疑涉及网上赌球活动的华裔父女。
他指出，在警方人屋突击时，只见18岁女儿正在上网操作电脑，而年届44岁父亲（农夫）则站在女儿背后，其妻子和另3名孩子则在房间内休息。
“警方在行动中充公了一台电脑、传真机、一张写满数字纸张，相信是嫌犯收集球赛赌注记录，以及2台手机等。”
阿都拉透露，根据警方在行动中所收集资料显示，这对父女所收集每场球赛投注额为2万令吉，有时些热门赛事投注额更高，不过，警方将一步调查和计算这对父女，在世界杯球赛开赛迄今所收取的投注总额。
他说，警方已援引1953年下注法令第6（3）条文，自6月23日起至6月26日，扣查这对父女4天。

（槟城23日讯）警方取缔赌球卜基行动奏效，两天内分别破获两个不同的卜基集团，逮捕8名卜基归案，每场球赛最高收注额达25万和50万！
警方今日凌晨前往发林新市镇某商业中心二楼一间网座，展开突击行动，逮捕7名年龄介于21至39岁的卜基归案，警方初步调查有关赌球集团每场球赛可收注最高50万令吉。
东北县警区主任颜康民助理总监今午召开记者会时，如是指出。他说，7名卜基分别是6名华裔和一名32岁的巫裔，华裔嫌犯皆来自亚依淡，巫裔嫌犯则来自吉隆坡。
“警员上门取缔时，发现卜基正使用5台电脑浏览赌球网站收注。”
他说，警方也充公了5台电脑、随身碟、一本世杯赛程册子、3本记录赌球收注的簿子，及现款4550令吉等。
他也说，警方相信每名顾客通过网络下注，下注数额最高可达50万令吉。
现场所见，网座也贴上“最高赔率20万令吉”的告示纸张，另一张则写着“电脑故障恕不负责”，相信卜基为了避免顾客下注时，电脑出现问题无法下注，刚好顾客欲下注的赛事赢了，被对方刻意刁难。
颜康民说，警方于周一（21日）晚上10时30分，也到日落洞一带某公寓单位取缔，当场逮捕了一名26 岁的华裔卜基，。
“当时这名卜基正用电脑浏览着赌球网站收注，警方估计他每场球赛的收注额可达25万令吉。”
目前警方已援引 1953年投注法令第6（3）条文调查上述两宗案件，被捕的8名嫌犯将被警方申请延长扣留助查。
网座全天候供应食物
网座内非法进行赌球活动，营业方式如同赌场，业者更担心顾客赌球赌到废寝忘餐，24小时全天候供应食物。
世界杯小组赛事开踢后，每天都有3场赛事，时间分别是晚间7时30分、10时和凌晨2时30分，球赛时间刚好也是晚餐和夜宵时间。
这间被取缔的网座为吸引顾客上门赌球，甚至提供免费晚餐和夜宵，让顾客可以长时间逗留在网座，不用空着肚子“搏杀”。
据了解，这间网座提供的食物并非什么经济饭或经济炒米粉，而是某地区著名的扁担饭和炒饭。
据悉，这些食物若平时购买需要大排长龙，但网座业者为了生意，安排跑腿负责排队去买，服务周到。
警方上门取缔时，发现该网座当天所提供的食物是甲必丹回教堂一带的著名扁担饭。
大马世杯赌注100亿
希山：警侦查更艰难
（美里23日讯）内政部长拿督斯里希山慕丁透露，世界杯赌风非常炽热，我国赌注金估计高达100亿令吉，亚洲其中一个国家的赌注甚至达100亿美元（320亿令吉） ！
“这是我收集到的可靠情报，大马国民世杯赌注高达100亿令吉，数目惊人。”
不过，他说，如今资讯发达，导致警方要有效侦查非法赌球及卜基，比以往更艰难。
希山慕丁昨日转机飞往姆绿国家公园出席国阵政治讲座前，在机场贵宾室召开新闻发布会，如是指出。
他说，警方必须严厉打击这不法活动，赌球活动更与罪案脱离不了关系，包括黑社会、放高利贷、卖淫及毒品案等。

厨师阿窿齐落网
（新山23日讯）武吉阿曼反风化、肃赌及私会党取缔组天兵南下新山，在餐室逮捕两名涉嫌世界杯赌球的厨师和大耳窿，起获1万2083令吉赌金、电脑和手机。
两名男子20岁左右，他们是在警方昨晚的取缔行动中，在新山美乐花园住宅区一间餐室后方的小房内落网。
带领行动的武吉阿曼反风化、肃赌及私会党发言人马斯哲里警监受询时说，8名警员昨晚11时15分许出动，在上述地点逮捕两人，并充公逾万令吉赌金、电脑器材、手提电脑和5台手机。
“警方找到一本疑纪录赌注的簿子，显示嫌犯每把收注介于20至3000令吉。”
他说，警方也寻获嫌犯赊欠高达5000令吉的下注纪录，怀疑嫌犯也是该区其他卜基的代理。
他指出，不法分子在6月11日世界杯开踢时，就租借餐馆小室作业，每月租金2000令吉；餐室业主也将被扣查，作进一步调查。
他说，警方援引1953年公开赌博法令第6（3）条文及1951 年借贷法令调查此案，公众如有情报可致电：07-2212999。
每日4万妓女接客
南非免费保险套断货
（南非．约翰内斯堡23日综合电）世界杯开赛以来，每天比赛结束后，有超过4万名妓女涌上街头接客。暴增的性交易，让南非世界杯筹委会免费提供的保险套也出现断货。
据一个非营利的教会人权组织表示，南非目前聚集众多的妓女，控制她们的背后黑帮正趁着红火的世界杯大赚人肉生意，该组织估计的妓女人数为10万，远远高出南非官方公布的数字。
妓女性交易的猖獗再次引发人们对爱滋病传播的忧心。南非平均每10人中，就有一个是爱滋病带病毒者，其中平均每4名妓女中就有一个，而且南非还是世界上强暴犯罪率最高的国家之一。
100家饭店免费提供保险套的组织表示，整个南非世界杯期间，他们将提供100万个免费保险套，显然目前的保险套发放的方式，无法满足众人的需求。因为很多球迷进行性交易的地点不见得是在饭店。

捕5收注男子
（芙蓉23日讯）森州反风化、赌博及私会党组在州内3地点展开取缔行动，逮捕5名涉嫌非法收注的华裔男子，并起获1万1950令吉现款。
该组是于昨晚约10时30分派出3名警官及7名警员，分别在芙蓉小甘密一间小食中心、芙蓉新城一间餐馆及淡边阿逸昆宁一间民宅，展开取缔行动。
森州反风化、赌博及私会党组主任哈比比助理警监今日凌晨12时45分，在芙蓉警局召开记者会，讲述取缔经过。
他指出，警方在芙蓉小甘密一间小食中心逮捕2名年龄61岁及49岁，疑是卜基的华裔男子，并起获一部手提电脑、一台传呼机、3台手机及1950令吉现款。
他说，在淡边取缔行动，警方逮捕了一名华裔男子，并起获1部电脑中央处理器、液晶荧幕、一台手机及一万令吉现款。
他说，警员随后继续在芙蓉新城一间餐馆逮捕2名疑是卜基华裔男子，起获一部手提电脑及2台手机。
他说，根据初步调查，在小甘密被取缔非法赌球活动最高投注额为6000令吉，共有5名赌客下注；另外，在芙蓉新城餐馆，2名被扣男子透过手机收注，每次投注额2300令吉。
他说，5名被扣查男子将在1953年下注法令第6（3）条文下调查，一旦罪成，将面对最高罚款高达2万令吉及监禁5年。
他说，警方将5名男子，分别带返芙蓉警局及淡边警局协助调查。
吉隆坡．咖啡连锁店下注
当场捕2青年
（吉隆坡23日讯）尽管警方已经放话会大肆取缔非法赌球活动，惟涉嫌者仍目无法纪，在大庭广众下进行非法赌球活动。
鹅唛警方昨晚11时50分，在甲洞逸福园（Desa Aman Puri）一带进行巡视工作时，在一间咖啡连锁店发现两名华裔男子，目不转睛的注视眼前的电脑。
据悉，警员假意经过两人身后，发现他们正在浏览赌球下注网页，当场将两人逮捕。
36岁黄姓男子（家具厂员工）因涉嫌参于非法网上赌球被捕，另一名 28岁陈姓男子（油厂员工）则在录取口供后获得释放。
另外，鹅唛警方于是晚11时，在甲洞逸福园一间电脑网络中心展开取缔行动时，34岁黄姓男子（床褥工厂员工）和36岁梁姓男子（汽车零件销售员）在电脑中心浏览非法赌球网页时遭警方逮捕。
另一方面，安邦再也警方昨晚10时 30分接获情报，到安邦班兰柏兰岭一个住家单位，逮捕两名35岁华裔男子，起获两台电脑、手机、几张纪录单及球赛时间表。
安邦再也警区主任阿都加里尔助理总监说，两名嫌犯属朋友关系，其中一人是厨师，另一人无业。
警方相信他们利用网络替顾客下注，并在其电脑内发现一个海外流动户头。
尽管户头只有5万令吉投注金，但警方相信，他们收获一定数额后，会把赌注转交海外集团处理。
“他们一场球赛的投注金至少能投300令吉，最多则是1000令吉。”
他说，世界杯开锣至今，安邦地区已侦破了5宗上述案件，共逮捕6名卜基，其中一名是女子。
逾 10卜基扩张赌业
警确认3赌球网页
武吉阿曼警方已确认，3个在南非世界杯赛期间，涉嫌提供非法赌球活动的网页。
消息说，超过10名本地“卜基”，通过亲人或朋友在全国各地“扩张”其赌业。
据悉，警方与大马通讯与多媒体委员会（MCMC）合作，一同监督及追缉有关网页的背后操控者。
消息指出，公众应该认识有关赌博集团负责人，但他们只要向代理员索取“通关密码”后，即可通过网络下注。这些本地与国际集团挂勾。
《每日新闻》报导指出，有些赌球网页需通过电话向“卜基”取得“通关密码”后，才可以浏览该网页或下注。
记者拨打相关国际电话号码时，由一名大马籍女子接听并承认身在菲律宾，主要是负责监督该网页的用户。
女子透露，新用户若想在该网页进行下注，须先到另一个网页登入，取得一个特别“通关密码”。
有关繁杂的登记程序，相信是为了确保对方有意投注。

＊顾客致电给“卜基”以取得浏览相关赌球网页的“通关密码”。
＊当顾客取得“通关密码”后，他们即可浏览“卜基”提供的特定赌球网站。
＊顾客可随意浏览及下注他们所心属的球队。每个“通关密码”只允许下注一场球赛。

此案于上周五，在英国桑德兰发生。
事主凯鲁（24岁，网络系统系学生）追述，事发时，他已看到这班足球流氓喝得酩酊大醉，所以尽量避开他们。

“这是我收集到的可靠情报，大马国民世杯赌注高达100亿令吉，数目惊人。”
不过，他说，如今资讯发达，导致警方要有效侦查非法赌球及卜基，比以往更艰难。
希山慕丁昨日转机飞往姆绿国家公园出席国阵政治讲座前，在机场贵宾室召开新闻发布会，如是指出。
他说，警方必须严厉打击这不法活动，赌球活动更与罪案脱离不了关系，包括黑社会、放高利贷、卖淫及毒品案等。

厨师阿窿齐落网
（新山23日讯）武吉阿曼反风化、肃赌及私会党取缔组天兵南下新山，在餐室逮捕两名涉嫌世界杯赌球的厨师和大耳窿，起获1万2083令吉赌金、电脑和手机。
两名男子20岁左右，他们是在警方昨晚的取缔行动中，在新山美乐花园住宅区一间餐室后方的小房内落网。
带领行动的武吉阿曼反风化、肃赌及私会党发言人马斯哲里警监受询时说，8名警员昨晚11时15分许出动，在上述地点逮捕两人，并充公逾万令吉赌金、电脑器材、手提电脑和5台手机。
“警方找到一本疑纪录赌注的簿子，显示嫌犯每把收注介于20至3000令吉。”
他说，警方也寻获嫌犯赊欠高达5000令吉的下注纪录，怀疑嫌犯也是该区其他卜基的代理。
他指出，不法分子在6月11日世界杯开踢时，就租借餐馆小室作业，每月租金2000令吉；餐室业主也将被扣查，作进一步调查。
他说，警方援引1953年公开赌博法令第6（3）条文及1951 年借贷法令调查此案，公众如有情报可致电：07-2212999。
每日4万妓女接客
南非免费保险套断货
（南非．约翰内斯堡23日综合电）世界杯开赛以来，每天比赛结束后，有超过4万名妓女涌上街头接客。暴增的性交易，让南非世界杯筹委会免费提供的保险套也出现断货。
据一个非营利的教会人权组织表示，南非目前聚集众多的妓女，控制她们的背后黑帮正趁着红火的世界杯大赚人肉生意，该组织估计的妓女人数为10万，远远高出南非官方公布的数字。
妓女性交易的猖獗再次引发人们对爱滋病传播的忧心。南非平均每10人中，就有一个是爱滋病带病毒者，其中平均每4名妓女中就有一个，而且南非还是世界上强暴犯罪率最高的国家之一。
100家饭店免费提供保险套的组织表示，整个南非世界杯期间，他们将提供100万个免费保险套，显然目前的保险套发放的方式，无法满足众人的需求。因为很多球迷进行性交易的地点不见得是在饭店。
森州．取缔餐馆住家
捕5收注男子
（芙蓉23日讯）森州反风化、赌博及私会党组在州内3地点展开取缔行动，逮捕5名涉嫌非法收注的华裔男子，并起获1万1950令吉现款。
该组是于昨晚约10时30分派出3名警官及7名警员，分别在芙蓉小甘密一间小食中心、芙蓉新城一间餐馆及淡边阿逸昆宁一间民宅，展开取缔行动。
森州反风化、赌博及私会党组主任哈比比助理警监今日凌晨12时45分，在芙蓉警局召开记者会，讲述取缔经过。
他指出，警方在芙蓉小甘密一间小食中心逮捕2名年龄61岁及49岁，疑是卜基的华裔男子，并起获一部手提电脑、一台传呼机、3台手机及1950令吉现款。
他说，在淡边取缔行动，警方逮捕了一名华裔男子，并起获1部电脑中央处理器、液晶荧幕、一台手机及一万令吉现款。
他说，警员随后继续在芙蓉新城一间餐馆逮捕2名疑是卜基华裔男子，起获一部手提电脑及2台手机。
他说，根据初步调查，在小甘密被取缔非法赌球活动最高投注额为6000令吉，共有5名赌客下注；另外，在芙蓉新城餐馆，2名被扣男子透过手机收注，每次投注额2300令吉。
他说，5名被扣查男子将在1953年下注法令第6（3）条文下调查，一旦罪成，将面对最高罚款高达2万令吉及监禁5年。
他说，警方将5名男子，分别带返芙蓉警局及淡边警局协助调查。
吉隆坡．咖啡连锁店下注
当场捕2青年
（吉隆坡23日讯）尽管警方已经放话会大肆取缔非法赌球活动，惟涉嫌者仍目无法纪，在大庭广众下进行非法赌球活动。
鹅唛警方昨晚11时50分，在甲洞逸福园（Desa Aman Puri）一带进行巡视工作时，在一间咖啡连锁店发现两名华裔男子，目不转睛的注视眼前的电脑。
据悉，警员假意经过两人身后，发现他们正在浏览赌球下注网页，当场将两人逮捕。
36岁黄姓男子（家具厂员工）因涉嫌参于非法网上赌球被捕，另一名 28岁陈姓男子（油厂员工）则在录取口供后获得释放。
另外，鹅唛警方于是晚11时，在甲洞逸福园一间电脑网络中心展开取缔行动时，34岁黄姓男子（床褥工厂员工）和36岁梁姓男子（汽车零件销售员）在电脑中心浏览非法赌球网页时遭警方逮捕。
另一方面，安邦再也警方昨晚10时 30分接获情报，到安邦班兰柏兰岭一个住家单位，逮捕两名35岁华裔男子，起获两台电脑、手机、几张纪录单及球赛时间表。
安邦再也警区主任阿都加里尔助理总监说，两名嫌犯属朋友关系，其中一人是厨师，另一人无业。
警方相信他们利用网络替顾客下注，并在其电脑内发现一个海外流动户头。
尽管户头只有5万令吉投注金，但警方相信，他们收获一定数额后，会把赌注转交海外集团处理。
“他们一场球赛的投注金至少能投300令吉，最多则是1000令吉。”
他说，世界杯开锣至今，安邦地区已侦破了5宗上述案件，共逮捕6名卜基，其中一名是女子。
逾 10卜基扩张赌业
警确认3赌球网页
武吉阿曼警方已确认，3个在南非世界杯赛期间，涉嫌提供非法赌球活动的网页。
消息说，超过10名本地“卜基”，通过亲人或朋友在全国各地“扩张”其赌业。
据悉，警方与大马通讯与多媒体委员会（MCMC）合作，一同监督及追缉有关网页的背后操控者。
消息指出，公众应该认识有关赌博集团负责人，但他们只要向代理员索取“通关密码”后，即可通过网络下注。这些本地与国际集团挂勾。
《每日新闻》报导指出，有些赌球网页需通过电话向“卜基”取得“通关密码”后，才可以浏览该网页或下注。
记者拨打相关国际电话号码时，由一名大马籍女子接听并承认身在菲律宾，主要是负责监督该网页的用户。
女子透露，新用户若想在该网页进行下注，须先到另一个网页登入，取得一个特别“通关密码”。
有关繁杂的登记程序，相信是为了确保对方有意投注。

（新加坡）美国投资大行美林周二（6月22日）公布2009全球财富报告，亚洲的百万富翁人数去年首度达300万个，首次超越欧洲，主因是去年香港、中国和印度股市表现相对稳健。
美林公司及凯捷管理顾问公司针对高净值财富个人（HNWIs）进行的全球财富调查报告也显示，去年虽然世界仍处金融海啸阴霾下，但全球拥有100万美元资产以上的百万富翁人数，已回升至1000万人，累积财富增至39兆亿美元（约马币150兆亿令吉），反映全球富豪的身家已收复金融海啸前的失地。

报告指出，在全球10个富豪人数增长最快的国家及地区中，亚太区就占了8个，并且，亚太地区的百万富翁人数首次达300万，总财富激增31%，至9.7兆亿美元（约马币37.5兆亿令吉），首次超越欧洲的9.5兆亿美元（约马币36.9兆亿令吉）。
报告称：“亚太地区的百万富翁人数在2008年一度下滑14.2%至240万人，但去年经已回升至300万人，首度与欧洲看齐。”
报告也指，由于亚太地区在经济及市场驱动财富目前正持续强势增长，欧洲人的财富总量虽然很多，但与亚太地区相比，却是小巫见大巫。
美日德富翁占全球一半
2009年全球百万富翁共约1000万人，美国、日本和德国的百万富翁，约占全球一半。
以国家来说，去年最多百万富豪的国家仍是美国，有287万人；排第2的日本有165万人；第3 位的德国有86.1万人，而中国就排第4，有47.7万人。
4个国家的百万富豪合计，占全球百万富豪数目的55%。
全球财富总值已几乎收复2008年的失地，差不多回到2007年美国资贷危机引发的全球金融海啸前的水平，反映全球经济明显复苏。

报告还提到，“金砖四国”中的印度、中国、巴西，百万富翁的财富增长率最大。 2009年印度百万富翁人数增加逾50%，达到12万6756人。

香港百万富翁人数去年大跃进，增幅超过1倍，达104.4%，是全球所有国家和地区之冠。
报告指，股市市值是香港制造财富的主要动力，因为港股市值与国内生产总值（GDP）比例十分高，达到GDP的11倍，远高于环球平均的0.8%。
香港股市总市值去年大升73.5%，正是财富增值的主因。 2008年，受金融海啸影响，香港的百万富翁人数就大跌61.3%，跌幅也是全球之冠。
另外，香港有很多百万富豪的资产介乎100万至500万美元的边缘界别，很易跌出榜，这也是富豪人数升跌幅度高的原因。
中国奢侈品市场旺
随着环球经济复苏，全球百万富翁再次展现他们对奢侈品如名车、游艇、艺术和珠宝的热情。
美林全球财富报告指出，这些所谓的“情感投资”（passion investments）虽较2007年要少，但去年下半年有所增加，预期今年将持续上升。
其中，新兴市场的百万富翁对名车的需求特别旺盛。例如在中国和巴西，去年宝马跑车销量达到双位数增幅，奥迪在中国的销情亦火速上升。
虽然全球富豪去年对艺术品的需求较2008年有所减少，但中国富豪购入了总值8.3亿美元的艺术品，按年大增25%。追踪全球100只最佳名酒的Liv-ex100名酒指数，去年就升了15.7%。

The world knows BP is a disaster, a monster of a disaster. Every time a TV news station shows oil gushing from a broken pipe -- one mile below the ocean’s surface -- the audience feels sick. Scenes of oil-soaked pelicans struggling for life angers and saddens us. The financial losses endured by small businesses and fishermen cannot be imagined, let alone conveyed by the media interviews alone. BP is a disaster whose scope is beyond comprehension.
I was in England this month when President Barack Obama blamed and criticized BP for this tragedy. His criticism sparked the anger of the English. Politicians wanted him to tone it down, to be more careful in his choice of words. English Prime Minister David Cameron told Obama “not to go after BP for the sake of it.” Richard Branson said he was “kicking a company when it was on their knees.” Their concern was not for the environment or those suffering the ravages of this disaster. Their concern was for the pensioners who are counting on BP for a secure retirement
On June 17, the UK’s Daily Mail ran a headline screaming, “Bullied Into a £13 Cave-In. Brits are angry with Obama for pressuring BP to suspend dividend payments and set aside $20 billion for the clean up. Obama’s strong-arm position has affected British pensioners, who own 40% of BP, as well as American pension funds that own 39%. In other words, the economic damage of BP goes far beyond the Gulf. The damage is spreading to pensions, pensioners, and portfolios all around the world.
Ground Zero for the Next Disaster
While in London, I decided to go to dinner at London’s Canary Wharf, ground zero for the next BP. Only a few years ago, Canary Wharf was one of the centers of the financial universe. Condo prices were sky high, offices were packed, and high-paid bankers filled Canary Wharf with wealth and excitement. Today Canary Wharf seems to be dying. It has lost its vibrancy. Many restaurants and offices were nearly empty and there were few lights to be seen in those once high-priced condos.
Canary Wharf will be the next BP, and its BP stands for Bomb Production. Canary Wharf is much like AIG, a factory for exotic financial products known as derivatives. The problem is that most people do not know what these murky and mysterious products are -- and that includes the people who make or buy them. It’s why Warren Buffett has called derivatives “weapons of mass financial destruction.” That is how powerful they are.
Back in 1966, when I was a student training to be a ship’s officer, my ship carried bombs from California to Vietnam. During World War II, a ship exploded while loading bombs at Port Chicago, California, the port where the bombs were loaded onto ships. The explosion flattened everything for miles. It is said that the ship’s anchor, which weighed tons, was found more than 60 miles away. Derivatives -- financial bombs -- have the same power if they accidently detonate inside a bank’s balance sheet.
Financial Bombs
The subprime disaster was a result of financial bombs -- derivatives -- exploding in financial institutions such as AIG and Lehman Brothers, as well as banks and financial institution throughout the world. After the bombs AIG manufactured exploded, AIG received $181 billion in taxpayer funding and immediately sent $11.9 billion to France’s Societe Generale, $11.8 to Deutsche Bank, and $8.5 billion to Barclays Bank of Britain. U.S. taxpayer money was going to bail out banks around the world. During the last three months of 2008, AIG was losing more than $27 million an hour. That is how powerful these derivatives can be. The problem I see is this: There are many more such bombs still sitting in balance sheets all over the world.
Military bombs are classified by weight such as 500, 750, and 1,000 pounds, while financial bombs have interesting labels such as CDO (collateralized debt obligations), ABS (asset backed securities), and CDS (credit default swaps). While they sound exotic and sophisticated, when put in everyday language, a CDO is simply debt sold as an asset. And CDS, or swaps, are simply a form of insurance. Since the insurance industry is strictly regulated and the bomb factories producing CDS did not want to comply with insurance industry regulations, they simply called them “swaps,” rather than insurance.
To make matters worse, rating agencies such as Moody’s and S&P (and even Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan) blessed these financial bombs as safe, sound, and good for you. It was almost as good as the pope blessing these products. In 2007 the subprime boom busted, and we know what happened from there.
The problem is that approximately $700 trillion of these financial time bombs are still in the system. While people watch the BP disaster in the Gulf, few people are aware of the other BP -- the financial bomb production -- that is still going on. If this derivative market begins to collapse, we will see another disaster.
Most of us know there is not enough money in the world to fully clean up the Gulf. The same is true with the $700 trillion derivatives market. If just 1% of the $700 trillion derivatives market goes bust, that is a $7 trillion disaster. The entire U.S. economy is only $14 trillion annually. A 10% failure, equating to $70 trillion, would probably bring down the world economy. As with the BP Gulf disaster, there is not enough money in the world to clean up the next disaster.
Could It Happen?
Could such a financial disaster happen? The answer is “Yes.” In fact, just as President Obama pressured BP into doing the “right thing,” so is he pressuring the financial markets to do the right thing. The president and our congressional leaders are pushing through financial reform legislation. My concern is that, if not handled delicately, it is this financial reform that will set off the derivative time bomb -- the next BP.
Currently, derivatives are traded over-the-counter. This mean derivatives are uncontrolled, unregulated, and unsupervised. Proposed financial reform legislation is pushing to have derivatives traded through an exchange. This will bring in greater transparency and controls. My concern is, when this happens, the change to an exchange system will reveal fraud and failures we do not yet know about today. It will be like turning on the light and watching the cockroaches (bankers) run for cover.
While it is commendable that President Obama hold the rich and powerful accountable, I wonder what the price will be? And how many BPs can we afford?

The problem is that most people do not know what these murky and mysterious products are -- and that includes the people who make or buy them. It’s why Warren Buffett has called derivatives “weapons of mass financial destruction.” That is how powerful they are.
Back in 1966, when I was a student training to be a ship’s officer, my ship carried bombs from California to Vietnam. During World War II, a ship exploded while loading bombs at Port Chicago, California, the port where the bombs were loaded onto ships. The explosion flattened everything for miles. It is said that the ship’s anchor, which weighed tons, was found more than 60 miles away. Derivatives -- financial bombs -- have the same power if they accidently detonate inside a bank’s balance sheet.
Financial Bombs
The subprime disaster was a result of financial bombs -- derivatives -- exploding in financial institutions such as AIG and Lehman Brothers, as well as banks and financial institution throughout the world. After the bombs AIG manufactured exploded, AIG received $181 billion in taxpayer funding and immediately sent $11.9 billion to France’s Societe Generale, $11.8 to Deutsche Bank, and $8.5 billion to Barclays Bank of Britain. U.S. taxpayer money was going to bail out banks around the world. During the last three months of 2008, AIG was losing more than $27 million an hour. That is how powerful these derivatives can be. The problem I see is this: There are many more such bombs still sitting in balance sheets all over the world.
Military bombs are classified by weight such as 500, 750, and 1,000 pounds, while financial bombs have interesting labels such as CDO (collateralized debt obligations), ABS (asset backed securities), and CDS (credit default swaps). While they sound exotic and sophisticated, when put in everyday language, a CDO is simply debt sold as an asset. And CDS, or swaps, are simply a form of insurance. Since the insurance industry is strictly regulated and the bomb factories producing CDS did not want to comply with insurance industry regulations, they simply called them “swaps,” rather than insurance.
To make matters worse, rating agencies such as Moody’s and S&P (and even Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan) blessed these financial bombs as safe, sound, and good for you. It was almost as good as the pope blessing these products. In 2007 the subprime boom busted, and we know what happened from there.
The problem is that approximately $700 trillion of these financial time bombs are still in the system. While people watch the BP disaster in the Gulf, few people are aware of the other BP -- the financial bomb production -- that is still going on. If this derivative market begins to collapse, we will see another disaster.
Most of us know there is not enough money in the world to fully clean up the Gulf. The same is true with the $700 trillion derivatives market. If just 1% of the $700 trillion derivatives market goes bust, that is a $7 trillion disaster. The entire U.S. economy is only $14 trillion annually. A 10% failure, equating to $70 trillion, would probably bring down the world economy. As with the BP Gulf disaster, there is not enough money in the world to clean up the next disaster.
Could It Happen?
Could such a financial disaster happen? The answer is “Yes.” In fact, just as President Obama pressured BP into doing the “right thing,” so is he pressuring the financial markets to do the right thing. The president and our congressional leaders are pushing through financial reform legislation. My concern is that, if not handled delicately, it is this financial reform that will set off the derivative time bomb -- the next BP.
Currently, derivatives are traded over-the-counter. This mean derivatives are uncontrolled, unregulated, and unsupervised. Proposed financial reform legislation is pushing to have derivatives traded through an exchange. This will bring in greater transparency and controls. My concern is, when this happens, the change to an exchange system will reveal fraud and failures we do not yet know about today. It will be like turning on the light and watching the cockroaches (bankers) run for cover.
While it is commendable that President Obama hold the rich and powerful accountable, I wonder what the price will be? And how many BPs can we afford?

又有议员退党变节，既然背叛了自己，出卖了人民，投向了敌对的阵营，却还要宣称是“独立”的议员，就像当了“婊子”，还要“贞节坊”！
对这些变节的议员，人民是深痛恶绝的！
最近，公青团团长三苏依斯甘达把叛党跳槽的政客，比喻是“政治妓女”，我觉得只对了一半！
人们常将变节跳槽的政客，比喻为“政治青蛙”，形容善跳，我也觉得只是对了一半。我认这种比喻，以青蛙来形容善跳倒可以，不过，青蛙不但没有害民，反而是人民的益友。因为青蛙捕食昆虫，可以为民除害。若把那些没有原则，毫无羞耻心的人民叛徒，形容为“政治青蛙”，实在是便宜了他们，也污辱了青蛙的圣洁。
青蛙是两栖动物，种类繁多，后腿发达，善于跳跃，那是造物者赐给它的天生本领，使它易于捕食，遇强敌时可以逃逸，是生存之道。青蛙舌有黏液，见有昆虫，舌一吐，昆虫即为所吞，这是它的看家本领。
政客不可与青蛙相比
青蛙也栖息于稻田洼泽之地，或清溪河流，尤其是“田鸡”者，更是“高洁隐士”，不栖污浊之地，其肉鲜美，是人们喜好的美食，也可入药。
因此，形容变节跳槽的政客为青蛙，除了善跳之外，政客的本质那里可以与青蛙相比喻？政客唯利是图，毫无原则，出卖自己，出卖人民，甚至出卖国家民族利益，为了一己私利而伤害大众，怎能与人类益友的青蛙相比？
如今有人把没有原则的政客，形容为“政治妓女”，也就是“政娼”。娼妓出卖肉体，换回所需，两相情愿，并没有危害到别人，或出卖第三者；而政客不但出卖了自己，也出卖了广大的人民，娼妓还胜过他千百倍。
再者，娼妓还懂得羞耻，即使要操丑业，也要关起房来，暗中操作；而政客是打不知痛，骂不知羞，在千夫所指，众目睽睽之下，公然干起鄙邪的买卖勾当。

在历史上，还有很多娼妓有爱国情操，懂得是非大义，北宋有陈师师，明末有马湘兰、柳如是、董小宛、顾横波、卞玉京、寇白门、陈圆圆、李香君八人；近代者有小凤仙等，她们不但才貌双全，富有道义，为后人津津乐道。
政客违背良知，出卖人民利益，重则祸国殃民，若形容为“政治娼妓”，实在还配不上。娼妓还比他们高贵，因此，我觉得应把这些卑劣不堪、不知礼义廉耻、卖民卖族求荣的政客，比喻为“政苍”，即“政治苍蝇”，倒还恰当。
因为“苍”与“娼”谐音，一语双关，况且苍蝇喜爱污秽之物，既善飞又善营钻，靠“烂”生存，所以才有“人靠人，鬼靠鬼，苍蝇靠烂腿”之说。这些政客，也像饭碗上的苍蝇，打都不走，令人厌恶。而官场就像一个大“污桶”，正符合这些卑邪小人生存之道，一旦政通人和，清廉盛世，它们就无法生存了。

Vote wisely. Choose Heaven or Hell
*While walking down the street one day a Malaysian Boleh Minister is
tragically hit by a truck and dies. His soul arrives in heaven and is met by
St. Peter at the entrance.*
*"Welcome to heaven," says St. Peter. "Before you settle in, it seems there
is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so
we're not sure what to do with you." *
*"No problem, just let me in," says the man. *
*"Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have
you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where
to spend eternity." *
*"Really, I have made up my mind. I want to be in heaven," says the Yang
Berhormat*
*"I'm sorry, but we have our rules," says St. Peter. And with that, St.
Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.
The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In
the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and
other politicians who had worked with him.
Everyone is very happy and dressed in the finest batik there is. They run to
greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while
getting rich at the expense of the people.
They play a friendly game of golf and then indulge themselves on lobsters,
caviar and the most expensive food there is.
Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who has a good
time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he
realizes it, it is time to go. *
*Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises.
The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St.
Peter is waiting for him.
"Now it' s time to visit heaven." So, 24 hours pass with the Yang Berhormat
joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp
and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24
hours have
gone by and St.Peter returns. *
*"Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose
your eternity." *
*The Yang Berhormat reflects for a minute, then he answers: "Well, I would
never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think
I'll be better off in hell." *
*So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to
hell. Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren
land covered with waste and garbage.
He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and
putting it in
black bags as more trash falls from above. The devil comes over to him and
puts his arm around his shoulder. *
*"I don't understand," stammers the Yang Berhormat. "Yesterday I was here
and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar,
drank champagne, and danced and had a great time.. Now there's just a
wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?" *
*The devil looks at him, smiles and says, "Yesterday we were campaigning."*
*"Today you voted."*

MELBOURNE: A Malaysian businessman and community leader was honoured by Britain's Queen Elizabeth in her birthday honours list.
Dr Peter Yeoh Tiong Yong, 72, who now lives in Brisbane, was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his service to business, particularly through the Australia-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and to the community of Queensland.
The well-known philanthropist's charity work has been outstanding.
He initiated a fund-raiser which helped collect A$630,000 (RM1.8mil) in three years for the Queensland Pre-Natal Research Centre to help prevent brain damage in new-born babies who suffer from a shortage of oxygen during birth.
Dr Yeoh was also behind a campaign which raised A$3mil (RM8.37mil)over five years for the Betty Byren Henderson Women's Health Research Centre at the Royal Women's Hospital in Brisbane. It undertakes Longitudinal Assessment Study of women's health in the mid to late years.
But it's his involvement with business associations that has made Dr Yeoh prominent in Brisbane.
His work with the Australia-Malaysia Business Council of Queensland (AMBCQ) and the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese of the People's Republic of China earned him recognition and praise from state and federal governments in Australia, China and Malaysia.
As AMBCQ president, Dr Yeoh led a highly successful delegation to Malaysia in 1996. This resulted in a return visit by a Malaysian trade and investment mission to Queensland, the following year.
He played a leading role in facilitating a sister city relationship between Brisbane and Shenzhen in China.
In April 2003, he was awarded the Centenary Medal by the Governor General of Australia for his achievements in a broad cross-section of the Australian community.
Born in Klang, Selangor on Nov 30, 1937 into a family with building construction interests, Dr Yeoh is the youngest son of nine siblings.
After completing his secondary education in Malaysia, he furthered his studies at the Sydney University of Technology and in 1963, at the age of 26, he took over his family's company, Yeoh Cheng Liam Construction Sdn Bhd.
During his tenure of 22 years, Dr Yeoh grew the business to become one of the largest construction companies in Malaysia, constructing numerous high-rise buildings, residential and shopping complexes, hospitals and industrial factories.
In 1982, Dr Yeoh was inducted Fellow of the Faculty of Building in London.
Three years later, he migrated with his family to Australia and started the YTY Group of Companies, with interests in property investment and management.
Dr Yeoh is an active promoter of multiculturalism and integration of overseas Chinese into Australian society.
Dr Yeoh and wife, Alice, have three daughters and a son. Their eldest daughter, Pat P. W. Yeoh is the managing director of PM Resources Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur. - Bernama

Messages of Support Flood in for ‘Peterporn’
Hundreds of messages of support have flooded in for Peterpan frontman Ariel in the wake of the developing explicit tapes scandal involving at least two celebrity starlets.
The messages come as the term Peterporn, used to describe Ariel, is the most popular for word on Twitter, an International social networking site.
Though Ariel does not have a listed Facebook profile and his twitter account is inactive, hundreds of fans — and a sprinkling of critics — have posted messages on Facebook’s Official Peterpan Band site.
One fan, identified as Mahesa Wonk, advised Ariel — who has not commented publicly on the videos that also allegedly feature model Cut Tari and his current girlfriend, Maya Luna, — to “keep going.”
“Nobody’s perfect, don’t worry about the video and keep on making music,” he wrote.
Linda Wardani said the videos were possibly leaked by people who were jealous of Ariel and his friends’ careers.
Rini Riyadi asked Ariel to clear the air by holding a news conference.
“Ariel, please hold a news conference. If you’re right, please talk to the media. Don’t run or hide, don’t let it develop into something uglier. I am so sad because there’s a new video and the man looks so much like you, Riel,” Rini wrote.
Not all comments were supportive and others were angry.
“Anyone who still supports Ariel means he or she also supports adultery, you’re all pro-adulterers, aren’t you? Luna, I thought your love [for Ariel] would end up in a marriage but it only ended up in an adultery in a seedy motel room. F**k for Ariel,” wrote Syech Puji, who has a poor grasp of the definition of adultery.
S e x between two consenting adults, including between men, is not illegal in Indonesia.
One commentator on the Jakarta Globe Facebook Web site was left wondering if Ariel’s private video collection had been stolen, while another said he’d heard that 34 other videos were in existence.
“Ariel is the successor of Edison Chen, I guess hahahaha... Rock on, dude!” wrote Globe Facebook fan Nino Chandra, in reference to the Hong Kong actor whose career folded after pornographic photographs and videos with himself and a Chinese celebrities Gillian Chung, Bobo Chan and Cecilia Cheung were leaked to the Internet in 2008.
Jakarta Police, meanwhile, say they are focusing their investigations on finding the people who published the graphic sex tapes on the Web and charging them under the Electronic Information and Transaction Law.
“We will investigate whether the video was leaked by other people or the people in the video themselves,” Jakarta Police Spokesman Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar told Detik.com, adding that the police would not summon Ariel and Luna until they had finished investigating how the tape was leaked publicly.

Three Indonesian celebrities who allegedly appeared in s-e-x videos posted on the Internet will be questioned for possible breaches of a new antipornography law, police said Wednesday.
Two explicit clips widely circulated online this week appear to show popular singer Nazril Ariel having s-e-x with models and television presenters Luna Maya, his current girlfriend, and Cut Tari, his ex-girlfriend.
Chief police detective Ito Sumardi said the celebrities would be questioned about how the clips had appeared on the Internet.
"We will question them to find out about the clips and how the videos were circulated in public," Sumardi told reporters.
Maya is a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations World Food Programme and has appeared in advertisements with Ariel for a soap made by Anglo-Dutch food and cosmetics giant Unilever.
Tari meanwhile endorses Sharp air conditioners.

Messages of Support Flood in for ‘Peterporn’
Hundreds of messages of support have flooded in for Peterpan frontman Ariel in the wake of the developing explicit tapes scandal involving at least two celebrity starlets.
The messages come as the term Peterporn, used to describe Ariel, is the most popular for word on Twitter, an International social networking site.
Though Ariel does not have a listed Facebook profile and his twitter account is inactive, hundreds of fans — and a sprinkling of critics — have posted messages on Facebook’s Official Peterpan Band site.
One fan, identified as Mahesa Wonk, advised Ariel — who has not commented publicly on the videos that also allegedly feature model Cut Tari and his current girlfriend, Maya Luna, — to “keep going.”
“Nobody’s perfect, don’t worry about the video and keep on making music,” he wrote.
Linda Wardani said the videos were possibly leaked by people who were jealous of Ariel and his friends’ careers.
Rini Riyadi asked Ariel to clear the air by holding a news conference.
“Ariel, please hold a news conference. If you’re right, please talk to the media. Don’t run or hide, don’t let it develop into something uglier. I am so sad because there’s a new video and the man looks so much like you, Riel,” Rini wrote.
Not all comments were supportive and others were angry.
“Anyone who still supports Ariel means he or she also supports adultery, you’re all pro-adulterers, aren’t you? Luna, I thought your love [for Ariel] would end up in a marriage but it only ended up in an adultery in a seedy motel room. F**k for Ariel,” wrote Syech Puji, who has a poor grasp of the definition of adultery.
S e x between two consenting adults, including between men, is not illegal in Indonesia.
One commentator on the Jakarta Globe Facebook Web site was left wondering if Ariel’s private video collection had been stolen, while another said he’d heard that 34 other videos were in existence.
“Ariel is the successor of Edison Chen, I guess hahahaha... Rock on, dude!” wrote Globe Facebook fan Nino Chandra, in reference to the Hong Kong actor whose career folded after pornographic photographs and videos with himself and a Chinese celebrities Gillian Chung, Bobo Chan and Cecilia Cheung were leaked to the Internet in 2008.
Jakarta Police, meanwhile, say they are focusing their investigations on finding the people who published the graphic sex tapes on the Web and charging them under the Electronic Information and Transaction Law.
“We will investigate whether the video was leaked by other people or the people in the video themselves,” Jakarta Police Spokesman Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar told Detik.com, adding that the police would not summon Ariel and Luna until they had finished investigating how the tape was leaked publicly.

Three Indonesian celebrities who allegedly appeared in s-e-x videos posted on the Internet will be questioned for possible breaches of a new antipornography law, police said Wednesday.
Two explicit clips widely circulated online this week appear to show popular singer Nazril Ariel having s-e-x with models and television presenters Luna Maya, his current girlfriend, and Cut Tari, his ex-girlfriend.
Chief police detective Ito Sumardi said the celebrities would be questioned about how the clips had appeared on the Internet.
"We will question them to find out about the clips and how the videos were circulated in public," Sumardi told reporters.
Maya is a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations World Food Programme and has appeared in advertisements with Ariel for a soap made by Anglo-Dutch food and cosmetics giant Unilever.
Tari meanwhile endorses Sharp air conditioners.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry will study a proposal to make Mandarin and Tamil compulsory in schools.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddn Yassin said the policy for teaching people own’s language was already in existence in the Education Ministry but it was not fully implemented.
In his opening speech at the Federal Territory PPP convention at the Putra World Trade Centre here, he said it would be good for all races to know more than two languages to help foster racial unity and expand knowledge.
"The people, regardless if they are of Indian or Chinese ancestry, or other ethnic groups, can learn more than two languages.
"The national language and English are important, but other languages such as Mandarin and Tamil should also be learnt," he said.
Muhyiddin said by understanding the languages, Malaysians could appreciate the way of life, values and cultures of the country's various races better.
He added that the people could also garner more knowledge by mastering more languages.
Earlier, PPP president Datuk M. Kayveas had proposed to Muhyiddin to make Mandarin and Tamil compulsory subjects in schools.
"It is long overdue. We should make mother-tongue subjects examination subjects," Kayveas said.

It has been 28 years but the people of Bukit Merah and Papan have not forgotten. Triggered by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s recent comments about the radioactive waste in Perak, The Star has unearthed some new developments there.
FOR almost 30 years, the country’s cache of dangerous radioactive waste has been stored in drums in a concrete facility – and not buried “deep in the ground” as claimed by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
The former prime minister, commenting on the Government’s proposal to build a nuclear power plant, told a press conference on May 14 that there was ‘’a small amount’’ of nuclear waste buried in Perak and that the disposal site was still regarded unsafe.
‘’In Malaysia, we do have nuclear waste which perhaps the public is not aware of. We had to bury the amang, a by-product from tin mining.

‘’It is not radioactive but it is not good to handle. We had to bury it in Perak, deep in the ground. But the place is still not safe, and we have almost one square mile that is dangerous,” he said, adding that he did not know where the site was.
Following his remarks, The Star has discovered that 80,000 200-litre drums containing radioactive waste are currently being kept at the dump located in the Kledang Range behind Papan town. The site is about 3km from Bukit Merah and Papan and about 15km from Ipoh. And the waste is thorium hydroxide, not amang.
In fact, it is only January this year that work finally began on the building of a proper underground storage facility called an engineered cell (EC).
For the residents of Bukit Merah and Papan, Dr Mahathir’s acknowledgement of the danger comes as a bitter vindication of their long-drawn battle to stop Asian Rare Earth Sdn Bhd (ARE), a company located at the Bukit Merah Industrial Area in the 1980s, from disposing of its radioactive waste near their towns.
And if the rest of the country has forgotten what they went through 27 years ago, the people of Bukit Merah, Papan and other settlements have not.
Perak Anti-Radioactive Committee chairman Hew Yoon Tat took Dr Mahathir to task for seemingly making light of the matter.
“The waste was never buried and the amount is not small. I would also like to remind Dr Mahathir that the radioactive waste came from a company approved by the Government to process rare earth,” he said.
Hew, 66, a butcher from Bukit Merah, added that the ARE factory extracted yytrium from monazite, one of the minerals found in amang (tin tailings), which were exported for use in high technology products.
In the production process, thorium hydroxide was produced. Both monazite and the waste contained thorium, which has a half-life of 13.9 billion years.
“Cancer-causing radon gas is released during decay,” he added.
ARE, which started production in 1982, had constructed the facility in the Kledang Range after former Deputy Prime Minister Tun Musa Hitam declared a proposed dumpsite on a durian hill near settlements in Papan unsafe and ordered the company to look for an alternative site.
Countering Dr Mahathir’s statement that “perhaps the public is not aware” of the waste, Hew said: “People involved in the series of protests, court case, and those whose lives were affected by ARE will never forget.
“These are the people who had suffered illnesses, braved clashes with the police during demonstrations, were arrested under the Internal Security Act, spent time away from work to show support during protests in Papan, Bukit Merah, Kuala Lumpur, and even in Tokyo.”
Hew was arrested under the Internal Security Act during Operation Lalang in 1987.
Papan-Pusing-Siputeh Anti-Radioacative Waste Dump committee chairman Low Tong Hooi, 69, is also astounded by Dr Mahathir’s statements.
“Why is it only now that he has admitted the radioactive dump is dangerous? In 1984, he maintained that the poorly constructed trenches for the waste in Papan in 1984 were safe,” he said.
Low added that experts from America, Britain, Canada and Japan brought in with the help of Sahabat Alam Malaysia, Consumer Association of Penang and the Environmental Protection Society of Malaysia declared the factory and the dump unsafe but the Government preferred to heed another view.
Although the ARE factory ceased operations in 1994, the company still maintains an office in a Menglembu housing estate.
The Star has learnt that it was only nine years later, between 2003 and 2005, that a decommissioning and decontamination exercise was carried out at the factory.
ARE’s general manager (administration) Kazuhiko Nishikawa said that about 250,000 tonnes of contaminated equipment, concrete structure, soil and materials were removed and transported by specially designed lorries approved by the Atomic Energy Licensing Board to an engineered cell called EC1 constructed at the 41ha site in the Kledang Range at the back of Papan.
“AELB has confirmed that the former factory site has been fully cleaned and is free from radioactive contamination. The lot was returned to the state government last year,” he said in an interview.
Kazuhiko said the company was now carrying out a project to construct another engineered cell (EC2) next to EC1 to store the thorium hydroxide accumulated during ARE’s operations between May 1982 and July 1984. The EC2 will decommission the use of the present storage facility and dispose of everything underground to a depth of 10m, similar to EC1.
Details of the project took three years to be worked out and had been reviewed by local and international experts and approved by AELB, he said.
“The project was designed in accordance with international and Malaysian standards and regulations set by agencies such as the International Commission on Radiological Protection, the International Atomic Energy Agency, AELB and the Department of Occupational Safety and Health.
“It is also being monitored by the Perak Government and its consultant is the Malaysian Nuclear Agency,” he said.
Kazuhiko said 500,000 tonnes of contaminated materials comprising debris from the concrete facility which would be demolished, 80,000 drums of wastes, and soil would be sent to EC2.
ARE has tasked US-based environmental and geotechnical engineering design and construction services specialist GeoSyntec Consultants Inc and its Malaysian subsidiary, GSM Consultancy (M) Sdn Bhd, with the management and implementation of the project.
Work of the project commenced in January. AELB would supervise and inspect all works during construction and the Perak government, relevant state agencies, and the PARC would be briefed on its progress, said Kazuhiko.
GSM Consultancy (M) Sdn Bhd director Anthony Goh said EC1 had been properly designed and constructed, based on its monitoring over the past six years.
Goh said frequent monitoring at the site had been carried out since 1992 and the results reported to the AELB.
“We did not find any increase in the background level of radiation and radon gas. Tests on ground and surface water and vegetation in the area did not suggest any contamination,” said Goh.
He added that all those involved in EC2, scheduled for completion in 2013, would be given a dosimeter badge to check on contamination and would undergo medical check-ups every month.
“Mechanised handling of the drums and waste will be introduced when transferring into EC2. We will solidify and repack the waste if the drums are corroded,” he said.
He also said the operation did not pose any public risk as there was no one living within 2km from the site.
“The dump will have a 200m buffer zone from its fence where no human activities would be allowed,” he added.
Both the engineered cells would then be “capped” with a final single cover to ensure safe disposal and minimal impact to the environment, he added.
AELB will monitor the site for two years before it is handed to the state government for long-term management and maintenance to ensure security.
Kazuhiko added that ARE was bearing the cost for the project but declined to reveal the amount.
PARC’s Hew said no one could ensure that the dump would not pose any danger in the long run. He hoped that future state governments would not forget about the dump and would continue to monitor it for the sake of the people.

这个惊人的数字，是在短短不到三年内达成，这也意谓着，平均每天有近十万人次，在弯弯的部落格流连。
网路趋势观察家刘威麟（Mr.6）形容：「这是一个『超英赶美』的纪录，弯弯部落格中虚拟的人物形象和真实的情感表述，打中了三十岁以下人们的情绪表达缺口。」
「ＭＳＮ心情图示～喜欢拿去用喔^_^」这是弯弯二○○四年十二月二十三日在她的部落格发表的关键图文。说关键，是因为自此之后，她的人气一路攀升，从此成为学生、年轻上班族群最可亲的网友。
◆分享，建立起坚实的友谊
但事实上，弯弯当初的动机，不过是「好东西要与好朋友分享」，她把自己画的可爱ＭＳＮ大头贴，放在部落格里让大家自由取用，幽默表达每个人心里的「怒、爽、累、困、闲、烦」等心情，而这一分享，就让她与成千上万的网友，建立起再坚实不过的友谊。
国中生会把和妈妈吵架的心事告诉弯弯、上班族会将同事的机车行径形容给弯弯，「我有时候觉得，自己好像『弯老师信箱』哦！」
本名胡家玮的弯弯，对于来自网友的真情分享，经常得花许多时间回应。 「我感受得到他们对我的期待，其实往往只要回应一两句话，就能有很大的鼓舞效果，他们就是心情不好才会留言嘛，」弯弯眨着大眼睛说，二十六岁的她，在网路世界里扮演起大姐姐、好朋友的角色。
许多人觉得不解，为什么有这么多人愿意花时间去看弯弯画出来的日常生活琐事：弯的日记、弯的家人、弯的游记、弯的笨事……，弯弯的创作题材永远来自生活，所有的事情都是寻常百姓家的人际互动，但透过简单有趣的漫画图示，弯弯真实而直接地表达了她内心的想法。
帮弯弯出书的自转星球出版社长黄俊隆认为，或许现实世界无法让人满足「被了解」的需求，因此人们史无前例地盼望透过网路被了解和了解别人，从弯弯的部落格里，网友感觉自己被了解、也感觉了自己被表达。
弯弯的超人气，当然引起商业上的注意。作为弯弯的经纪人，黄俊隆与弯弯小心谨慎地维持和商机之间的关系，弯弯代言了什么广告、试用了什么商品，都会明白告知网友。
毕竟，网路世界的情谊与现实世界并无二致，没有「善意」、「分享」与「诚恳」，网路社群的关系不可能建立，这也是「一亿人次」所彰显的珍贵意义。
「现在的网路社群技术，已经从过去的『搜寻』转化到『观赏』，」刘威麟分析。过去大家在网路上搜寻志同道合的朋友，现在，透过不断的连结功能，人们可以从这个部落格连结到下个部落格，接触到所有与自己有共同关心的人，不必发言、不必互动，藉由观赏，让孤独的个人不感到寂寞。
「我真的相信，人生也需要这种半生不熟的朋友，」刘威麟说。
◆高科技的「三合院」时代
最近正流行的网路社群工具twitter，因为可以让人把正在听的音乐、正在看的网页、正在想的东西全部一起让朋友知道，这种鸡犬相闻的「共时感」，被传神地形容成像是让人回到了农业社会的三合院时代。
原来，当科技已经进步到一定程度，它所要解决的，无非是人对感情与认同的渴求。
当人们对大自然、全球化有更多的了解，当宗教、国家、企业这些想像的认同不再流行，剩下的认同，只存在于人与人之间。
「在一个没有忠诚的世界，能掌握的，唯人与人的情感而已，」智邦生活馆总经理陈丰伟如此形容。

（槟城）今年初逐步推广香草（Vanilla）种植法的湖内农业中心，如今大力推广5月成功试种并预料能大量生产的“蚝菇” （Cendawan Tiram）种植法，为本地农民开拓新农业契机。首批“蚝菇”已经面市，每公斤批发10令吉，非常抢手。
负责把栽种蚝菇技术从霹雳州引进槟岛的业者苏拉胡丁对《光明日报》说，生产蚝菇的技术简单，成本不高，只要细心照料，产量可观。目前他成功试种了1万包，每天限量收割15公斤左右供应菜市场。
技术简单成本不高
他说，湖内农业中心是为他带来商机的仲介，通过了此中心提供的蚝菇种植课程后，便租用此中心的设施设置“蚝菇”坊，聘请人手培育目前市场非常受落的蚝菇。
他表示，蚝菇是大马农业部的研发新贵，是健康的菌类食材，属于有机业之一，性凉可口，宜煮炒、煎炸和烹煮各种汤类，是华裔素食者最爱，马来人普遍煮成东炎酸辣汤，令人食指大动。
它需要潮湿和温度不超于摄氏27的暗室内，定时监督室内气温确保空气蒸气正常，便可培育出品质优良的“蚝菇”，开拓新的商机。
他说，初种者可购入首5000包，包括设置20x10呎的蚝菇坊和排架，经费逾7000令吉，即有机会经营小投资。有兴趣的农民，可向他了解实况。 （012-6070499）或者电邮solagold_ent@yahoo.com。
他说，目前有不少上门订购和菜市街的固定需要求，未来市场看俏，若能大事栽种和大量生产，即可供应超市和霸市，收入可观，潜能很佳。
“霹雳和森美兰州是蚝菇盛产地，它在槟岛仍是新兴行业，希望能迅速崛起和大量生产，让槟州农民广泛影响“蚝菇”种植业。”
他也有意扩充这新行业，从中赚大钱。
可购菇苗
不需自己培植
业者苏拉胡丁说，没有经验的业者需要掌握“蚝菇”坊的环境的温度、湿度、培植天数等，才渐渐掌握当中的窍门。
每天可采两次
他说，一般上农民并不需要培植菇苗，每包购入的含菇苗木屑包袋，可生产5次后才作废，每个包袋每天可生产50至100多克的蚝菇，每个可收割至少5天，然后才重新紧封包袋放置10天后，再进入次轮生产，这样重覆5轮才作废，再购入新包袋菇苗取代。
“菇苗包袋就是先打包木屑、将木屑筒用蒸气杀菌、植入菇苗、封盖3个月、菇苗成熟后才把盖子打开，一朵朵蚝菇便会在5天内生长出来，然后摘采上市。”
他说，上课能打好培植基础，如开盖时间需准确，摘采后的木屑筒必须在10天内重新盖上。最关键的功夫，是掌握好生产期和淘汰期，开盖太早或太迟都不适于蚝菇生长。
他也说，蚝菇场内每天可采摘2次，即清晨和下午，保持室内潮湿和温度，人手也需要紧密轮流替代，不能稍有忽略。

KUALA LUMPUR: The quota system and special consideration will no longer be defended in a move to harness global champions.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the philosophy of merely defending the quota system and special consideration must change.
“We will give aid to youths who are willing to work hard to succeed until they become global champions.
“If they are determined, the government will assist them,’’ he said to the cheers of 15,000 youths participating in 1Malaysia rally organised by Barisan Nasional Youth at Stadium Bukit Jalil on Saturday.

Najib said the government would also provide assistance to all citizens in need, regardless of their ethnic background.
Najib also called on the youths not to be fearful in striding forward, as the government would help them overcome obstacles.
“Have no fear, the Barisan Nasional is here,’’ he said, adding the government aim to harness national, regional and global champions.
“Youths are idealistic. They want to do something to make the world a better place.
“They have idealism and energy. We can harness their latent talent to bring about great changes to the country,’’ he said, adding that the government’s approach was to accommodate youths.
Najib said the government also aimed to make Malaysia one of the top five globally competitive nations.
“We now rank among the top 10 on the global competitive index from 18th spot last year.
“We are in a better position than our colonial masters.
“We are also 13 spots higher than Japan,’’ he said, adding no other OIC or NAM nations had made it to the top 10 list.
He also called on the Opposition not to mock Malaysia’s achievements.
“We have achieved global recognition, but the Opposition are in denial,’’ he said.
He also called on opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim not to belittle Malaysia.
“We know what he did,’’ he said.
Najib also pointed out the Malaysia’s growth rate of 10.1% was among the highest in the world, adding that countries like Portugal, Spain and Britain were under economic stress.
Najib also praised Barisan youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin for organising the mammoth gathering of youths.
“There are indications that the youths are no longer anti establishment, they are no longer rejecting the Barisan government.”
At the event, Najib also launched the 1Malaysia Rally bus.
“This bus will carry the image, spirit and symbol of Barisan Nasional and 1Malaysia as it travels around the country,’’ he said.

（吉隆坡12日讯）首相拿督斯里纳吉指出，要迈进成为全球冠军，就不应该再捍卫固打制和特别关照。
他说，仅仅捍卫固打制和特别关照的观念必须改变。
“我们会协助愿意努力成功的年轻人直至他们成为全球冠军，如果他们下定决定，政府会协助他们。”
他补充，政府也会提供援助给所有有需要的人民，不分种族和背景。
“我们就像一支足球队、一支一个马来西亚足球队，不管谁担任守门员，不管谁担任守卫，这支一个马来西亚足球队一定要胜利。”
他今天出席由国阵青年团举办的“一个马来西亚”集会发表演说时，这么指出。陪同出席者有副首相丹斯里慕尤丁、前首相敦阿都拉、内政部拿督斯里希山慕丁、民政党主席丹斯里许子根、马青总团长拿督魏家祥、民青团长林时彬及国大党青年团团长T.莫汉等。
此外，纳吉说，尽管我国足球队无法跻身全球10 大，但有一名裁判当任世界杯裁判，而我国也拥有强大竞争力，跻身全球首10大最具竞争力的国家。
他指出，如今国人应更努力，以追求跻身全球首5名排名的目标。
“让我们放眼全球首5名，我们相信我们可以，世界也认可我们可以，只有反对党在否决我们的能力。”
根据瑞士洛桑管理学院（IMD）最新发表的2010年全球竞争力报告显示，我国的全球竞争力在接受评比的58个经济体中，以87.2的评分名列第10位。
纳吉也指出，国阵青年团展开的“走遍一个马来西亚”活动巴士，戴有“一个马来西亚精神”、“一个美好未来的保证”、“一个国阵+马来西亚等于美好的未来”，走遍马来西亚各个角落。

（吉隆坡12日讯）首相拿督斯里纳吉指出，要迈进成为全球冠军，就不应该再捍卫固打制和特别关照。
他说，仅仅捍卫固打制和特别关照的观念必须改变。
“我们会协助愿意努力成功的年轻人直至他们成为全球冠军，如果他们下定决定，政府会协助他们。”
他补充，政府也会提供援助给所有有需要的人民，不分种族和背景。
“我们就像一支足球队、一支一个马来西亚足球队，不管谁担任守门员，不管谁担任守卫，这支一个马来西亚足球队一定要胜利。”
他今天出席由国阵青年团举办的“一个马来西亚”集会发表演说时，这么指出。陪同出席者有副首相丹斯里慕尤丁、前首相敦阿都拉、内政部拿督斯里希山慕丁、民政党主席丹斯里许子根、马青总团长拿督魏家祥、民青团长林时彬及国大党青年团团长T.莫汉等。
此外，纳吉说，尽管我国足球队无法跻身全球10 大，但有一名裁判当任世界杯裁判，而我国也拥有强大竞争力，跻身全球首10大最具竞争力的国家。
他指出，如今国人应更努力，以追求跻身全球首5名排名的目标。
“让我们放眼全球首5名，我们相信我们可以，世界也认可我们可以，只有反对党在否决我们的能力。”
根据瑞士洛桑管理学院（IMD）最新发表的2010年全球竞争力报告显示，我国的全球竞争力在接受评比的58个经济体中，以87.2的评分名列第10位。
纳吉也指出，国阵青年团展开的“走遍一个马来西亚”活动巴士，戴有“一个马来西亚精神”、“一个美好未来的保证”、“一个国阵+马来西亚等于美好的未来”，走遍马来西亚各个角落。

国阵青年团团长凯里挑战民联州政府，全部禁止赌博活动，关闭州内的万字票投注站，而非仅针对赌球合法化问题及不允许开设赌球投注站。

“德士色魔落网”案的男嫌犯今早被警方再度盘问时，大言不惭承认自己确曾非礼和“强奸”6名受害者，但他力指她们（6人）都是自愿，没有被他强迫。
警方透露，嫌犯在录口供过程中非常冷静，思路清晰，除了指自己认识6名投报者外，更说彼此非常熟络，她们都是在没有被强逼的情况下让他非礼，部分则自愿跟他“上床”。
拍短片只为欣赏
换言之，嫌犯指投报的少女都是自愿任他摆布和发生关系，间接表示她们并非受害者。

大马爱滋病理事会（MAC）主席拿督查曼甘说，调查报告示，我国每天有近9人感染爱滋病，情况令人担忧，女患者人数也日趋增加，从2000年时9.5%女患者，增至2009年的20%。
他说，2000年的女性感染爱滋病主因为吸毒，如今却是通过性交。
“登州去年接获315宗新增案件。”
调查数据显示，全国爱滋病例最多州属依序为吉兰丹（新增596宗）、彭亨（新增431宗）、雪兰莪（新增378宗）及登嘉楼。
查曼甘昨晚在2010年世界爱滋病日致词时，如是指出。

I have just watched a documentary regarding Greece 's financial and am appalled ! These are the why's and how's that this historic and beautiful country came to grieve.
Bureaucracy: Greece's bureaucracy is famous in the whole of Europe ! To open a cafe or pub there are 25 processes to go through !! This is a country of rules and regulations.
Bloated civil service: There are 1.05 milliion civil servants (excluding police and armed forces) . The population of Greece is only 10 million !! More than 10% are govt servants !! Salary increases every year and benefit for civil servants in Greece is one of the best in Europe !! More and more money is needed to upkeep this bloated civil servants . The retirement age is 62 yrs old.
Corruption: Greece is the most corrupted nation in the Eurozone. Citizens pay "under table " money to:
# admit into a public hospital
# pass a driving licence
# to enter public service
# renovate your business premises or your home
# avoid income tax
Every govt project is awarded to political cronies and at hugely inflated prices ! Transparency International compared the prices of the construction costs of stadiums built for the Athens Olympics recently with similar structures in China --500% more expensive than the Chinese , compared to Los Angeles and Sydney -- 50 % more expensive !!! All these with tax payers money ! and borrowings !!!
Tax evasion: Officially 80% of its citizens are supposed to pay tax but only 37% are doing so. Big businessmen and corporations have refined tax evasion to a fine art ( or have the tax men taken some coffee money ? )
No Transparency in governance: The politicians and bureaucrats falsified economic data and painted a rosy and manageable picture while the economy was rotting away .
Unabated borrowings: Meanwhile, the politicians and bureaucrats continue to issue govt bonds to keep afloat, series after series. They were trying to cover up the financial mess they have created creating one big hole to cover up the previous !!
Lacking political will power to reform: To keep hold on to political power, politicians are prepared to lie, commit economic and political fraud. If reforms were taken some five years ago , the country need not go bankrupt and its citizens need not suffer so much. Political expediency and greed to political power over-rides everything and hence Greece is now a bankrupt country. Luckily, it is part of the European Union and its currency is EUROs, otherwise Greeks will have to eat grass to survive !!
Laid back attitude: Tourism is THE ONLY industry in Greece and over the years the Greeks have had an easy time. Many flocked to see the historical sites. enjoy summer vacation on the islands. But they forgot that not many tourists will returned after visiting the sites --there are so many other tourists attractions in the world, maybe more exotic and perhaps cheaper !! So once tourism vanes and couple with higher costs of living --the Greeks could not and refused to adapt and transform --still partying and having a nice time -- maybe the Greek Gods will bless them !!! Greece have no natural resources, no electronics industry , no R & D --no anything !! They were so laid back --cannot see what is coming and crashing down on them. Even now, the civil servants refused to take a pay cut -- the world owes them a living !!
Poignant Conclusion:
The producer of the documentary had hired a raxi driver to go around while doing this documentary. The taxi driver had studied economics for 4 years in US and this was his parting words:
"My biggest mistake was returning 15 years ago, I should have stayed back in US. My nationalist instinct made me returned. The politicians screwed me. I loved my country but my country did not love me !!!!
Friends, I can see a lot of similarity in Malaysia . I need not go into boring details, it is there for all to realise. Unless we transform politically and economically, sadly this day will surely come . It is not IF, but WHEN !!

另一名受害者J小姐告诉《中国报》，当她3年前掉入色魔陷阱后，色魔就常对她说会娶她、会照顾她等等山盟海誓，一度让她信以为真。
她说，色魔更不时会传送一些调情短讯给她，包括说“我想你、我爱你、我想要你等等入骨肉麻的话。”
“当时我对他确实有感觉，所以曾劝他不要再去玩弄其他女生，但他不听，后来我才选择离开他。”

“德士色魔落网案”见报后，多名身受其害的少女先后挺身而出，向《中国报》指证色魔兽行，昨午又有一名受害者站出来，直呼4年前被德士色魔侵犯后，以裸照威胁，令她成为他的性奴，身心受创。
这名目前已婚且怀有身孕的M小姐（21岁）阅读了《中国报》有关德士色魔落网的报导，并认出报上刊登的色魔就是当年曾令她生不如死的同一个人后，决定通过本报揭发色魔恶行。
4年前受害
她披露，色魔4年前侵犯她后，曾逼她肛交、玩3P和接客（卖淫），惟她宁死不从，色魔才没得逞。
“但是，我当时还是被他以裸照威胁，与他多次发生关系。”
M 小姐致电《中国报》说，回想起4年前的行为，简直和当年香港艺人钟欣桐（阿娇）与陈冠希爆发欲照丑闻后讲过的一句经典话“我当时真的很傻，很天真”一样贴切。
换手机号码逃魔掌
M小姐指出，当时害怕裸照被公开，以致不敢拒绝色魔的性要求，实在太笨了。
这名亲自致电本报，语气平和的M小姐说，当年她宁死都不和色魔进行肛交、玩3P和卖淫，色魔也就此放过她，可能是他还有一些“良知”吧。
“因为色魔奸计不得逞后，只是语带威胁，但没有真的打我或公开我的裸照。”
M小姐表示是在2007年尾，当时刚18岁中学毕业，一次在金河广场前乘搭德士回家，不幸坐上色魔的德士，让她的人生留下污点。
慢慢走出阴影
“我被他拍下裸照和要胁发生多次性关系，直到一年后换了手机号码，才与他失去联络，从此逃其魔掌。”
她说，原本心里还有阴影，但自从结识了现任丈夫，才慢慢走出这段不堪回首的往事。
“但我万万没有想到，他（色魔）竟然还在继续施展魔爪，侵犯其他少女。”
M小姐：疑有特别癖好
交欢前要求穿校服
色魔疑患有制服癖，常常在跟少女发生关系前，要求她们穿上校服！
M小姐说，当年她认识色魔时，刚好已中学毕业，所以不会穿着校服出门；被色魔缠上后，数次被他以裸照威胁当性奴。
“当时我没有穿校服，但印象中，他每次强奸我前，都会要求我换上校服，但我则以种种理由拒绝。”
她说，虽然色魔没有强逼她一定要穿校服，但他的要求却很奇怪，现在深入去想，发现色魔物色的所有“猎物”，都是年龄介于15岁至18岁的在籍女中学生。
“可能他患有制服癖，对身穿校服的女生特别钟爱。”
介绍接客赚快钱
“色魔要介绍我去接客（卖淫），一次收100令吉！”
M小姐说，色魔蹂躏她后，还数度威逼她卖淫，说可以介绍客人给她赚快钱。
“他（色魔）说，我每一次接客，就会给我100令吉当酬劳，但我打死也不愿意，他才作罢。”
她说，虽然色魔先后多次向她如此建议，但她都没有答应。
另外，一些德士司机早前受访时，指该名色魔曾向他们介绍“少女性服务”，还说每次交易只需120令吉，换言之，他将把其中100令吉交给愿意接客的少女，自己“抽佣”20令吉。
要求高难度性姿势
色魔被指性欲旺盛，性能力超强，常要受害少女与他进行各种高难度的性姿势，包括口交和肛交。
M小姐说，虽然色魔已过中年，但其性欲和性能力特别旺盛，不但持久不衰，甚至还自称和多名少女进行多P时，仍可应付自如，还常常向她炫耀指自己每天“大战” 多少回合都不是问题。
她说，色魔和她发生关系时，有时会戴安全套，有时不会，有时则会要求女生服食避孕丸。
“他曾要我跟他肛交，我拒绝，他也没有进一步强逼我。”
看到色魔照片吓一跳
阅报才知多人受害
M小姐说，她日前阅读《中国报》，看到色魔斗大的样子时，当场吓了一跳！
当她继续阅读内容后，才惊悉色魔如此神通广大和离谱，让这么多无辜少女受害。
她说，当年在极度害怕的情况下，加上年少不懂事，所以没有想到要报警。
“也许当年我报警的话，还能让他受到法律制裁，没有这么多人受害。”
不过，由于目前临盆在即，M小姐暂时不会报案，可能会在生产后才向警方投报。

他说，政府批准赌球执照施以严厉条件，包括不让他成立新的投注站，全国只限220间少回教徒居住地区的多多博彩投注站接受现金投注。
至于最低投注额，他表示目前仍未有任何定案。
他也说，除投注站外，非回教徒也可以电话投注，约占总投注额的75%。欲通过电话投注者需成为用户，只限现金交易。
陈志远今午联同成功集团属下高层召开记者会时，这么指出。
询及除了赌球，该公司是否有意提供更多运动投注时，陈志远说，目前最受欢迎的是足球运动，卜基也专注于赌球。
记者询问日后是否会考虑将赌球范围扩大至高尔夫球时，他表示暂时没有这个打算。

他说，这笔款项只是一个开始，他日后将会脱售更多在旗下上市公司的股权，捐给有关基金，以协助有需要的学生，借贷者无需还利息，但要还本金。
“我未来会再出售上市公司股权，让基金规模达到10亿令吉。”
他强调，他是受到股神巴菲特和微软主席盖兹的捐身家搞慈善事业的行动感动，而且早在以前已很想拨更多款项办慈善工作，如今应该是时候这么做。

“我们只接受现金投注，有别于非法卜基，因为借贷赌球会让赌徒债台高筑，借钱来赌，才会陷入麻烦，现金赌球则让所有人只能在能力范围内投注。”
他说，现金投注是该公司负责任的表现，因为球迷只可依本身能力投注，而非靠借贷来赌球。
“非法卜基引发的社会问题，包括向大耳窿举债问题，都是赌球合法化后不会出现的情况。”
驳斥收买政府言论

“我为什么要对这名除了破产人士以外，什么都不是的逃犯采取法律行动？我年轻时喜欢起诉，但现在老了，他所说的都是废话，他应该被关入监牢，然后丢掉监牢的钥匙。”
他透露，该基金会将由一批专业人士，进行完善的策划和筹备后，开始运作。
他也会确保该基金会在透明制度下运作，包括稽查，让基金获得善用。

陈志远说，成功机构将针对吉打、雪州和槟城民联州政府禁止州内赌球合法一事，向州政府上诉。
他也指出，尽管3个民联执政州属禁赌球，但影响不大，因为州民仍可通过电话投注。
“我们会向三州政府上诉，如果不成功就再上诉，不断的上诉，还是不行，我会直接游进去，我是一个好泳将。”
陈志远也希望民联州政府重新考虑（禁赌球决定），并公平的看待（fair-minded）。
他说，如果该集团与民联政府会面后，没有取得正面结果，他会继续争取双方会面，以便民联州政府检讨禁止赌球决定。
“我们是经营合法赌球公司，如果他们要禁止我们营业，非法卜基问题又该如何处理？”
他相信，民联政府会公平及合理处理这项问题。
