Mokhzani Mahathir has quitted Umno

Businessman and former Youth Treasurer Mokhzani Mahathir has quitted Umno, two days after his father Dr Mahathir resigned from the party.

The Star sent in this sms news at 9:49am this morning.

After Mahathir announced his decision to quit, his wife also followed his footstep. Later Sanusi Junid joined in. Makhzani Mahathir is the third followers.

Many political observers say that Tun Mahathir should not make such a move because he has ruled for 22 years, he has already had his says. He should help in building the country's economy instead of playing so much politics. His good image has been affected. From the newspaper report, his move to quit the Umno was prompted by a PAS member.

From the newspaper report, we read that Umno MPs have rallied behind Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi and rejected calls for them to quit in protest against his leadership.
