I think Tun Mahathir was appointed as Petronas and Proton adviser is because he was our Former PM and the fact that he was also the Umno member. Now he has quit as Umno member, by right, he should also quit as the adviser for both companies since he is not happy with Abdullah’s administration. Petronas and Proton are government linked companies. By not quitting as adviser voluntarily, he is also trying to play some politics, so to speak. If Tun Mahathir were to remove by Petronas and Proton as adviser, which they have every right to do so, then Mahathir would voice his dissatisfaction. If they do not remove him from the adviser post in the two organization, it is because they don’t want him to make noise. I think when Tun kept making noises, then they might as well would just remove him. I think Petronas and Proton do pay him as advisor.
