Ahmad Said will name his exco line-up by April 7

Terengganu MB Ahmad Said says he will meet former MB Idris Jusoh to get his advice before introducing his Exco line-up by April 7.

The Umno supreme council has made a decision yesterday to accept the decision of the palace to appoint Ahmad Said as the new Terengganu MB.

Apparently, the Umno supreme council does not want to go against the wishes of the royalty, thereby avoiding a possible constitutional crisis.

At the press conference last night, the PM Abdullah says he is confident that the Terengganu assemblymen will support Ahmad Said’s appointment as MB.

PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will meet Sabah BN leaders and elected reps soon to hear their views on political developments, says CM Musa Aman.

BN accepts the Palace's decision on Terengganu MB

According to Malaysiakini, Umno president Abdullah Ahmad Badawi today said the party had asked former Terengganu menteri besar Idris Jusoh to accept the Terengganu palace’s decision to appoint Ahmad Said as the menteri besar.

Apparently, with Abdullah and BN also accepting the palace's decision on the appointment of Ahmad Said as Terengganu Mentri Besar, what is unconstitutional also has become constitutional.

The issue is closed for Terengganu. Of course, there are many questions unanswered, however, because it involved the palace and the PM, therefore, it is best not to discuss openly.

Umno management committee which met yesterday unanimously agreed that the party’s elections should not be postponed, says VP Muhyiddin Yassin.

The swearing-in ceremony for Perak state Exco members will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 29, at Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar.

Umno AGM and party elections are to be held on Dec 16-20. There is no change to election process.

PM Abdullah says he is ready to face any challenger.

Blogger got to be very careful otherwise...

A High Court in Alor Star orders blogger Raja Petra to pay RM7 mil to UUM and its vice-chancellor Nordin Kardi for slander.

High Court deputy registrar Priscilla Gengadaran made the order Wednesday following a judgment in default she handed down on Feb 26 after the three had failed to file their defence within the required period.

She ordered the damages to be paid to the plaintiffs for claiming that Dr Nordin was a plagiarist on the Malaysia Today website and in the 98th edition of Suara Keadilan in November 2006.

Nordin and UUM had filed a lawsuit against Raja Petra, PKR, Suara Keadilan group chief editor and the editor. Only PKR had submitted its defence.

Priscilla ordered Raja Petra to pay RM2mil to Nordin and UUM, respectively. She also ordered each of the editors to pay RM1mil and RM500,000 to Nordin and UUM, respectively.

Like the Singaporean comedian usually says, “Don’t play, play.” Blogging is getting expensive. You have to be careful what you are writing. Many bloggers wanted to write simply because they wanted to express themselves. There is always a cost for everything, even blogging.

Selangor MB Khalid puts on hold two hillside projects in Bukit Antarabangsa approved after general election. Review and investigation on these projects are pending.

All registered places of worship in Selangor is to be exempted from paying quit rent and assessment, only token RM1 annual fee but the state government has not set a date yet.

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is learnt to be having an urgent meeting with his candidate for the Terengganu menteri besar post, Idris Jusoh at Sri Perdana in Putrajaya after he had an audience with the King, who is also Sultan of Terengganu, over the controversy surrounding the appointment of Terengganu menteri besar(Chief Minister).

Malaysiakini reliably learnt that after the audience with the sultan, Abdullah had agreed with the appointment of the palace-backed Ahmad Said for the post in place of Idris, the incumbent MB.

The hour-long meeting between Abdullah and Idris was later confirmed by Terengganu state Umno secretary Rosol Wahid, who however was unable to give any other information.

Earlier Abdullah was insistent that Idris was made the menteri besar, calling the appointment of Ahmad unconstitutional.

Ahmad, who received his appointment letter from the Terengganu palace on Sunday, assumed office yesterday although he has not been sworn in yet.

He also faces the possible sack from Umno for assuming the post against the wishes of the party.

Both Abdullah and Idris did not hold a press conference today on the matter. Malaysiakini said that officials close to them are also refusing to confirm anything.

However unconfirmed reports, as reported by popular bloggers, suggest that the sultan asked Abdullah questions pertaining to the distribution of the Petronas’ RM1 billion wang ehsan through Idris for development in the state.

The sultan is also said to have asked why the state remained poor despite the wang ehsan.

The appointment of MB of Terengganu is an interesting issue. We will see whether Abdullah accept the Royalty’s appointment or not. Official announcement will have to come out from the PM. What is more interesting is the issue of Petronas’ RM 1 billion wang ehsan. Apparently, this is not an new issue, the PM probably inherited it from Tun Mahathir’s era.

Some kind of crisis in Terengganu but what is the real issue?

There is some kind of crisis happened in Terengganu where the Prime Minister of Malaysia has appointed Idris Jusoh as Terengganu Mentri Besar(Chief Minister) and the palace appointed Ahmad Said.

Ahmad Said was told not to take office. However, he insists that he wanted to take this job and began the first day of work at Terengganu MB’s office at 8 am with heavy police presence and supporters gathering. There is no untoward incidents happened.

Malaysia PM Abdullah said that he will seek an audience with the King over the Terengganu MB(Chief Minister) issue as the matter needs to be resolved as soon as possible.

Normally, the palace would just accept the recommendation from the Prime Minister with regards to the appointment of MB(Chief Minister).

It had happened in Perlis, now is Terengganu. What is the real issue?

There are 23 state assemblymen staged an objection to the appointment of Ahmad Said being appointed by the palace.

No official ceremony has conducted. However, Ahmad Said has received the appointment letter from the palace.

This is a very interesting issue where the palace and the Prime Minister hold different opinion.

Idris Jusoh, the person who is favoured by the PM, says he is willing to accept any decision on MB post for the good of the people even if he is told to step aside by the PM or the King.

Umno information chief Muhd Taib says all state liaison committees want party elections to be held only in 2009 and the supreme council will decide on Thursday.

What is the problem in Terengganu?

23/3 PM Abdullah:The Abdullah:The appointment of anyone other than Idris Jusoh as Terengganu Mentri Besar would be against the Constitution.

Kijal assemblyman Ahmad Said, to be sworn in as Terengganu MB today, has been stripped of his Umno membership for disobeying party leadership.

At 10.42 am, I received this piece of news:

Ahmad said only received Terengganu MB appointment letter at 8.20am today:palace officials have fixed indefinite date for the ceremony.

Kijal assemblyman Ahmad Said will be sworn-in as Mentri Besar of Terengganu soon, a state palace official has confirmed.

Terengganu assemblymen will boycott swearing-in ceremony if palace goes ahead in appointing Kijal representative Ahmad Said as Mentri Besar.

Terengganu Umno’s Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings have stated their undivided support for state chief Idris Jusoh to be sworn-in as Mentri Besar.

Terengganu palace official has confirmed that the swearing-in ceremony of Kijal assemlyman as Mentri Besar will be held at 10am on Sunday.

Terengganu state reps will send a protest note to palace on the appointment of Ahmad Said as Mentri Besar.

What is the problem in Terengganu? It is just a bit confusing. Take it from the PM: Ony Idris Jusoh can be Terengganu Mentri Besar.

Who is happy and who is not happy?

Who is not happy after the new cabinet line-up had announced?

Radzi Sheikh Ahmad obviously not happy because he has quitted as BN and UMNO Secretary General saying that he cannot work effectively any more and the PM has accepted his resignation.

The PM said Tengku Adnan Mansor has accepted his offer to be BN and UMNO secretary general following Radzi Sheikh Ahmad’s resignation this morning.

Rafidah would not be happy because she was dropped in the new cabinet. She probably would not contest in the election if she knew she would be dropped.

In her first public reaction to being dropped from the Cabinet, former International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz said today that she will stay on as Wanita Umno chief.

Rafidah was excluded from the new Cabinet line-up announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on Tuesday.

Rafidah told reporters that she was not disappointed and accepted the Prime Minister's decision, but was surprised when Abdullah told her Tuesday that she would not be retained.

She said there would not have been a need for her to contest in the recent general election had Abdullah informed her of his plan beforehand.

Rafidah said the formation of the Cabinet was the Prime Minister's prerogative and she bore no grudges over the decision to not have her on board.

There are two deputies declined their posts, namely Datuk Seri Tengku Azlan Abu Bakar and Datuk Anifah Aman.

Tengku Azlan was quoted as saying that he had declined because he has not moved up the ladder.

He said, “I was deputy minister for two terms and since I cannot go any further, I feel it is time to move on.”

He said, “It is a normal reaction for anybody to look elsewhere when they are not going anywhere.”

As for Anifah, he said, “ I have already been a Deputy Minister for two terms and I feel it’s time for me to make way for a younger person to hold this post.”

He refused to state other reasons for his decision.

Former Selangor MB Mohd Khir Toyo has offered to quit as state UMNO chief. Selangor State Liaison Committee will be meeting tonight.

Who are most happy after the new cabinet being announced?

Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib. He said, “it was a total shock but I was also glad at the same time that the Prime Minister has the confidence in me.”

Amirsham is happy. He said he was honoured to lead the EPU and pledged to do his best.

Shahrizat should be happy because failed to defend her Lembah Pantai seat and she still is made special adviser. This position carries with it ministerial status whereby she gets access to information and is provided with an office and secretaries like a full Cabinet minister, however, she cannot attend cabinet meetings.

Datuk Dr Ng Yen Yen is happy because she is the first MCA woman minister.

MCA vice-president Datuk Ong Tee Keat and MCA Youth chief Datuk Liow Tiong Lai are happy because they have been promoted to full ministers.

Shahrir is happy because his last ministerial post was in 1987 as Federal Territories Minister. Now he is being appointed as Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister.

Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin sworn in as Perak MB

Perak PAS secretary Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin was sworn in as Perak Mentri Besar at Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar at 11.45am

I have received this from the Star SMS.

Many people are concerned about this swearing-in ceremony because it was cancelled by the Perak Sultan's office last week following some disagreement among DAP,PKR and PAS on the chosen MP and the executive council's composition.

The significant of Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin's sworn-in means the new government can start working for the welfare of the people.

The New Mentri Besar of Perak announced that all compound notices and parking summonses issued up till today by all local councils in Perak are to be waived.

Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin seems to be followed Penang's footstep where the Chief Minister also announced a waiver to all summonses after taking office.

Negri Sembilan state executive council was sworn in today;9 out of 10 are new faces, 8 are from Umno, 1 each from MCA and MIC.

Terms of Negri Sembilan Exco members will be limited to 2 years, non performers will not be given extension, says Mentri Besar Mohamad Hasan.

PM:We want more FDIs

The Barisan Nasional government will continue its existing business-friendly policies to attract investors and is prepared to offer further incentives to attract more foreign direct investments.

He said during a 30-minute interview with Bernama TA in a show hosted by Datuk Zuraidah Atan on March 15.

The PM said the BN, despite having won only a simple majority in last week's general election, " will look after their interest" and implement policies that suit them.

He said that the priority now was to form a new Cabinet to reassure the investment community of Malaysia's political scenario and ensure they continue to have confidence in the country.

Of course, the Friday(March 14)'s street demonstration by Penang UMNO members and supporters at Komtar would not be welcomed by the FDI.

It is time for the governments in power to start work hard for the people and country so that we will have peaceful and prosperous nation.

Gerakan acting president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said,"BN component parties must keep to the stand that street demonstration are not the proper way to convey views and express feelings."

The former chief minister said this has been the stand of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Barisan top leadership.

When commenting on the street demonstrations, he said,"as often pointed out by BN's top leaders, such acts may heighten tension and even lead to conflicts if they get out of hand."

Dr Koh said that holding forums and seminars, and presenting memorandums with concrete proposals supported by facts and figures, would be a more fruitful way.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said, "there should be no further issues with the state's policy on the New Economic Policy(NEP).

Lim promised that the state would act fairly towards all Penangites and urged all parties to let it execute the wishes of the people.

He said,"it is time to move forward. Let us make policies that can benefit all the rakyat."

Well, we will have to give time to the newly elected government to start working.

Is the PM offended?

The PM Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi would not be happy about two incidents that happened after the BN major set-back in the 12th General Election.

The first incident is about the appointment of Perlis Mentri Besar and the second incident is about Mukhriz’s letter asking for his resignation.

Datuk Dr Md Isa Sabu who was on March 14 appointed Mentri Besar by the Raja of Perlis and Dr Md Isa Sabu is not the person that Abdullah recommended.

Datuk Dr Md Isa Sabu said eight assemblymen were supporting him compared to five who were backing former Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.

“Under the Perlis Constitution, I have the confidence of the majority and officially I am the Mentri Besar.

“I am the new Mentri Besar while Shahidan is the former Mentri Besar,” he said on March 15 when contacted.

It is learnt that the nine assemblymen including Dr Md Isa had told the Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail that they wished for a change in the state leadership.

The group proposed that Dr Md Isa head the state instead of Shahidan who has been the Mentri Besar since 1995.

In the elections, Barisan Nasional won 14 state seats in the state while PAS won one seat.

Dr Md Isa said Shahidan only received a letter from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi recommending him (Shahidan) for the Mentri Besar’s post.

“But under the state constitution, it is the prerogative of the Raja of Perlis to
decide who commands the confidence of the majority to be appointed Mentri Besar.

Can the PM accept Raja of Perlis’ new arrangement? Or how can he change this?

The second incident is the son of former Malaysian premier Mahathir Mohamad had on March 14( Friday ) asked Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to resign following the ruling coalition's election debacle at the weekend.

"I'm asking him to resign," Mukhriz Mahathir, a senior executive member of the United Malays National Organisation (UNMO) and who commands factional support within the party, told the media on the phone. He had written a letter to the premier on March 12(Wednesday).

He is the first ruling party leader to demand that Abdullah step down, although his father has also urged the prime minister to resign over the party's worst election setback in its 50-year rule.

The PM said that he has left it to UMNO Youth to take action against Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir.

The PM said,”A day before he sent the letter to me, he issued a statement voicing support for me and that collective responsibility must be taken for what happened and several other statements that were seens positive towards me.

Abdullah said, “This letter (asking Abdullah to step down” contradicts the stand taken by UMNO and the UMNO Youth movement.”

Of course, people will say this letter asking the PM to resign actually came from Mahathir. This is just a guess. However, this is the first written request.

Tun Mahathir Mohamad had also written a letter to the first prime minister Tunku Abdul Rahman asking the latter to step down because of the set-back in the 1969 general election. Tun Mahathir Mohamad was sacked by UMNO. Would Mukhriz Mahathir face the same fate?

MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting faced more pressure from his members. Many people have asked Ong to step down and the prominent one will be Datuk Chua Jui Meng, Yap Pian Hong, Tong Mu and so on.

Shu Qi and Edison? No. No. No.

In the Internet, the latest actress said to be involved over the Edison nude photos sex scandal is Shu Qi.

In one of the blogs, Shu Qi pictures were shown over the internet. Observers said that these pictures might not be the pictures taken by Edison. They might be pictures taken when she was still very young and “not famous”.

Of course, I have already censored this picture otherwise might not be able to put it up. This is like Shu Qi and she might not be Shu Qi

It seems that when she knew that these seductive pictures were shown over the internet, she was very angry. She was quoted as saying, “my representative office is incurring heavy losses.” Apparently, one magazine seemed to publish Shu Qi’s seductive photos and it was reported that her representative company plans to sue the magazine soon.

Shu Qi is her stage name

How the blog can dig out the old photo of her? Well, I think many people might have kept her exposed pictures and now it is being reused in the internet. Is it good for her or bad? Edison Chan has become a poison and anyone associated with him might be pulled down by him because of his nude photo scandal. The blog probably is trying to secure more traffic by associate Shu Qi with Edison Chan conveniently.

I hope Shu Qi ‘s reputation would not be affected because I believe those pictures were taken when she is still very young and was being “silly”.

Shu Qi was born in April 16, 1976. She is a Taiwanese and her real name is Lin Li-Hui. Her stage name is occasionally Romanized as Hsu Chi or Shu Kei(Cantonese). She was linked romantically to Leon Lai.

She starred in Derek yee’s 1996 film, Viva Erotica, which was about the erotic film industry in Hong Kong, opposite the late Leslie Cheung and Karen Morris.

At the Hong Kong Film Awards, she received the Best Supporting Actress award for the film. Since then, she has appeared in mainstream Hong Kong films such as gorgeous(1998) opposite Jackie Chan, Stanley Kwan’s The Island Tales(1999) and Hou Hsiao-Hsien’s critically acclaimed Millennium Mambo(2000).

Another picture of Shu Qi

In 1999, Lee Ang approached Shu Qi for the role of Jen in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Six weeks into filming, her manager, Manfred Wong, not foreseeing the film’s massive international success, pulled her out to do a soft drink commercial in Japan, and the part went instead to Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi.

In 2002, she appeared in the Hollywood film The Transporter and the Asian action flick So Close. In 2004, she had a role in the Hong Kong horror film The Eye 2.

Apparently, Shu Qi is not happy about this picture being put up in the internet. Is this really Shu Qi or someone like her? You judge.

PM stands by his decision

Raja Perlis has appointed Dr Md Isa Sabu as Mentri Bsar of the state effective immediately.

However, PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi stands by his decision to give Shahidan Kassim mandate to be Perlis Mentri Besar.

This means that Raja Perlis has to make the changes. This has never happened before in Malaysia where the Raja did not take the recommedation of the people in power and make a different decision.

This is an interesting event to follow.

It seems that Datuk Shahidan Kassim had secured the acknowledgment by the Prime Minister to take up the Mentri Besar post earlier.

Why there is this sudden change of event?

Datuk Shahidan Kassim knew that both Radzi and Azmi had been organising events to get wakil rakyat to meet Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

"But Pak Lah chose me. It is not right to go against the party and the agreement," he said, adding that those responsible would be duly punished by Allah.

Speaking to reporters outside the Prime Minister's Office here on Friday, Shahidan said he had earlier had an audience with Raja Perlis in Kuala Lumpur where he presented the letter of appointment issued by Abdullah.

"But the Raja's decision was to appoint another person, I do not know why," he said, adding that he was still Mentri Besar for another 120 days.

He also said that no one should go against Abdullah's decision but should instead respect his leadership.

UMNO state leaders gone to the street

Protest is always done by DAP or other opposition members, now following the recent political tsunami and changed of state government, UMNO state leaders also have gone into protest and this time are against Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's recent remarks on the New Economic Policy.

Police has dispersed the crowd which held a street protest around Komtar in Penang, banners and posters seized but no one arrested.

Protesters led by Penang UMNO Secretary Azhar Ibrahim have gathered at Komtar in protest of DAP state government.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said UMNO leaders can see him to highlight problems in Malay community, no need for street protest.

IGP Musa Hassan has warned people not to gather illegally at Komtar in Penang, says those who defy order will be arrested for illegal assembly.

Penang CM Lim Guan Eng has assured investors that there would not be hostile relationship with Federal Government affecting business opportunities.

The demonstration in Penang was held out of vengeance against a legally-elected state government, said Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

Among those who participated in the hour-long street protest were Penang Umno secretary and state opposition leader Datuk Azhar Ibrahim, former deputy Chief Minister Datuk Abdul Rashid Abdullah, Kepala Batas Umno Youth deputy chief Reezal Merican Naina Merican, Bukit Mertajam Umno division chief Senator Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir, Tanjung Umno division chief Datuk Ahmad Ibnihajar and former Penanti assemblyman Datuk Abdul Jalil Abdul Majid.

The protest was held in response to Lim's statement that DAP and PKR would run the government "free from the New Economic Policy (NEP) that breeds cronyism, corruption and systemic inefficiency".

Speaking to reporters, Musa said the state Umno would hand over a four-point memorandum to Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas next week in protest of Guan Eng’s statement.

“We do not want to hand the memorandum to the Chief Minister as we believe he will not protect the rights of the Malays. We want Tun (Abdul Rahman) to advise him after we hand over the memorandum,” he said.

Regent of Perak, Raja Dr Nazrin Shah and Raja Puan Besar Tuanku Zara Salim have been blessed with a baby boy, the prince was born at 10am today.

Selangor CPO Khalid Abu Bakar warned that stern action will be taken against those planning to gather illegally at the state secretariat building.

Former Penang Chief Minister Dr. Koh Tsu Koon calls on federal government to retain mega project, says they are vital for state economy.

Swearing-in of Perak Mentri Besar should be held soon following the 6-3-1 agreement on the allocation of Exco seats

DAP-PKR-PAS coalition in Perak:Leaders of the 3 parties have agreed to 6-3-1 formula in the allocation of state Exco seats.

There is a report saying that 31 opposition assemblymen indicating their written support for the formation of the new DAP-PKR-PAS coalition government have been obtained. This is also the requirement by the Regent of Perak.

The swearing-in of the new Perak Mentri Besar has been postponed because there was no agreement on the allocation of state Exco seats. Now they have agreed to 6-3-1 formula, I think the swearing-in of the New Perak Mentri Besar should be held very soon.

The scheduled swearing-in ceremony of the Perak Mentri Besar has been cancelled.

The scheduled 4 pm swearing-in ceremony of the Perak Mentri Besar has been cancelled.

Why? Political observers said something is happening. Is it because the Regent of Perak not happy or other party not happy again?

First thing in the morning, the Star reported that "the saga of who will head the coalition government in Perak has taken a dramatic turn, with DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang ordering his party assemblymen to stay away from the swearing-in of the Mentri Besar -- and they have chosen to defy him."

Before we go into more discussion, arguement, and deliberation, we read Lim Kit Siang's blog that he has already apologized for any offence caused to Perak Regent for his statement on Wednesday over MB’s post.

Then we heard that the DAP chief Ngeh Koo Ham said that all parties in the DAP-PKR-PAS coalition will attend the swearing-in of PAS nominated Perak MB at 4 pm today.

We thought everything is back to normal although we heard news that "PKR accepts PAS nominated MB in Perak but not Exco seat allocation, warns it will not take part in administration if composition is not fair."

Later, we heard that PAS president Hj Abdul Awang has thanked Perak Sultan for appointing its nominee as MB and pledged cooperation to DAP and PKR in state’s administration.

We thought Perak will have a new beginning. However, before we could even celebrate, we heard that the scheduled 4 pm swearing-in ceremony of the Perak Mentri Besar has been cancelled.

What we can ask is Why? Tell me why?

In Selangor, we heard that the Sultan has given MB Khalid Ibrahim until March 22 to decide the exco line-up and conduct swearing-in ceremony. Hope there is no power struggle. Of course, we heard there are some power struggle going on.

All eyes are watching. We want to see how the Opposition parties run their administrative affairs.

In another event, Ramasamy and Fairus have already sworn-in as deputies in Penang. Penang CM Lim Guan Eng seems to be in control. He has also appointed his exco line-up as follows:

Chow Kon Yeow, Lim Hock Seng, Law Heng Kiang, Phee Boon Poh, Wong Hon Wai, Ong Kok Foi, Abdul Malik Kassim and Law Choo Kiang.

Mr Lim told the media that there will be no witch hunting on previous government and gives assurance that Malays in the state won’t be marginalized.

The event in Perak and Selangor will continue....

DAP against appointment of Perak PAS Secretary as Mentri Besar

DAP CEC is against the appointment of Perak PAS secretary as Mentri Besar, its 18 assemblymen will away from the swearing-in ceremony tomorrow.

Political observers see this as the beginning of the political tussle in the new coalition government.

It was reported that the Regent of Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah scheduled to meet the three nominated candidates for MB's post at 5.00 pm.

The three candidates are:state DAP chief Ngeh Koo Ham, state PKR treasurer Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi and state PAS secretary Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin.

DAP CEC's reaction came after the Sultan's office announced that State PAS Secretary Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin has been appointed as Perak MB. State DAP Chief Ngeh Koo Ham was appointed as Deputy MB and one more Deputy MB to be named later who is supposed to be an Indian candidate.

If the coalition government cannot agree that Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin be appointed as the new Perak MB, then it should not submit his name.

If it wanted Ngeh Koo Ham to be the new MB, just submit his name. It seems that the state Constitution requires the Mentri Besar to be a Malay and a Muslim. There was also saying that only the Sultan can waive such requirement. Then the coalition government should just ask the Sultan or the Regent of Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah to give a waiver.

It should not submit three names and let the Regent of Perak to decide. Now the Regent of Perak has made a decision and that decision obviously is not in the DAP's favour. The DAP should not create such conflict.

Let see what will happen tomorrow.

Penang CM Lim Guan Eng to appoint executive councillor to oversee tourism to work with industry players to restore Penang's "shine"

All BN leaders have pledged their full support for Abdullah Ahmad Badawi

PM:Government will continue to formulate and implement investor-friendly policy for the country's economy to remain healthy.

This statement might help to stabilise the market tomorrow.

DPM Najid Tun Razak said,"All Barisan Nasional leaders have pledged their full support for the leadership of PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi."

BN will set up an independent panel to do a post-mortem analysis on the results of the general election, says PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Independent V. Arumugam of Bukit Selambau state seat, the only Indian candidate to win in Kedah, said he will join PKR.

Abdullah sworn in as PM

Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was sworn in as Prime Minister before the King this morning, following Barisan's victory in Saturday's general election.

Even after Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has sworn in, there are still rumours saying otherwise. The stock market was very sensitive and fell to 130 points to hit the circuit breaker where the market came to a halt for an hour.

Reading The Star online report below, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi looks still getting strong support from BN and UMNO.

"Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi chaired the Barisan Nasional supreme council meeting here to discuss various issues involving the performance of its component parties in the just-concluded 12th General Election.

The meeting was held after the prime minister, who is Umno president, chaired the party's supreme council meeting.

Abdullah received a standing ovation as he walked in at 1.15pm for the Umno supreme council meeting, which went on for three hours.

The supreme council gave him full backing for all reforms necessary for the party to recover from its poor showing in the election, where it failed to retain a two-thirds majority in Parliament and saw five states and the Federal Territory slip to opposition control.

Almost all of the Barisan component party leaders attended the meeting, including MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting, MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu, Gerakan acting president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, PPP president Datuk M. Kayveas and Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) president Datuk Yong Teck Lee."

There is no question of Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi resigning because BN is still in power obtaining 140 parliamentary seats out of 222 .

He has won in his Kepala Batas seat and secured a majority of 11,246. If he were to lose in Kepala Batas, then it is a different story.

Now that he has sworn in as the Prime Minister, he should look forward and study the factors leading to this set-back.

Tun Mahathir said that the agreement is for Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to stay one-term and step down, even if he were to do that it cannot ensure that BN would not face this political tsunami because many of the issues might have been inherited from Mahathir’s era.

I think Tun Mahathir had said in his interview with Bloomberg that BN should stay together and face the problem together. This statement is more appropriate. In fact, Tun Mahathir had contradicted himself when he asked Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi to step down.

The Barisan Nasional will form the next Government as it has won more than half the parliamentary seats.

“That is why I cannot make an announcement now unless there is a coalition formed in such states,” he said.

Abdul Rashid added that such a process would take time.

Will oppositon capture Penang?

The opposition will be able to capture Penang from Barisan based on the people’s sentiment, said PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Penang Chief Minister Dr Koh Tsu Koon said, "BN is under great opposition pressure in 10 state constituencies in Penang."

Police advised supporters of political parties they have no right to stop buses or check the I/C of people in buses or those going to vote.

for equipment supply contracts worth RM 1 million to RM 5 million.

The MCA president said Anwar's policy has limited the building of Chinese schools, making it difficult for the schools to be relocated and causing many schools to be closed down.

Parti Keadilan Rakyat adviser Datuk Anwar Ibrahim has filed a RM 10 million defamation suit against Just World presidnet Dr Chandra Muzaffar ove remards he made at a forum on Monday.

Anwar claimed that Dr Chandra @Chandrasegaran Pillai had falsely and maliciously spoken about his conduct in the forum at Menara Star in Petaling Jaya.

Chandra is being threatened to be sued for RM20 million

Dr Chandra Muzaffar may be saying something he believed is the truth against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, however, he is now being threatened to be sued for more than RM 20 million.

Dr Chandra Muzaffar is the former Parti Keadialan Nasional deputy president. He told the media that Anwar had threatened to sue him for libel for remarks he made during a forum on March 3.

Dr Chandra said Anwar demanded an "unequivocal public reraction" of his remarks, an apology and an undertaking "not to repeat" the "allegations and comments."

He said,"he is also demanding damages from me for the "injury caused to his reputation" of RM 10 million for each of the articles in the two newspapers."

Libel suit is the risk the newspaper owners and journalists have to face.

When Anwar was in Singapore on March 5, he spoke about the opposition's zero access to the mainstream media and its biased reporting. No wonder the media has to be careful about what is reported in the paper because everyone is monitoring you, including the government.

As a politician, Anwar has to fight back using legal proceeding otherwise there maybe many other people like Dr Chandra who will come out and say something which might affect his reputation. March 8 is polling day. Now is March 6. You have got one more day to do the election campaign and a lot can be said.

If Anwar is serious about suing, there may be more people he can sue now because many have come out openly to slam him.

But there is such a thing as fair comment otherwise we better keep our mouth shut if we don't have RM 20 million.

Why Anwar is under attack?

Although Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said on March 1 in Kuala Trengganu that the Barisan Nasional (BN) is confident of securing a two-third majority in the general election on March 8, however, the way BN leaders attacked Anwar is like Anwar is on the leading side.

Just open up today's Star, you will find the attack on Anwar appeared on Front page, page 4, page 29,page 33 as follows:

Front page reports:

PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng became the main targets of the four Barisan leaders who in turn fired salvo after salvo at them.

Page 4 reports:

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim tried to make a comeback into UMNO but the party does not want him, Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi said.

The Prime Minister, who made this revelation last night, said the de facto PKR leader was not important as "we have enough leaders in UMNO."

Furthemore, he fought against the party. we do not have to wait for him to come back. Now, he's looking for new friends and had gotten into a marriage of convenience.

On the same page:

Gerakan adviser Datuk Seri Dr Lim Keng Yaik warned Malaysians that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is not their saviour.

"Anwar imagines himself to be a gift sent here from heaven to save Malaysians. He claims to be against the New Economic Policy(NEP) and is in favour of equality. My foot!"

He was addressing thousands of people who had turned up a Rifle Range Penang for the Malam Satu Hari Bersama Rakyat last night.

On the same page:

Penang Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon reveal yesterday that "PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim did not want to promote a capable and qualified Chinese to be the state education director when he was the deputy prime minister.

"Instead he wanted to promote Datuk Ahmad Farouk Abdul Majid who was less senior. I did not agree and even Ahmad Farouk himself admitted that Tang should have been promoted over him."

Dr Koh Tsu Koon

"Because I did not want Tang to be overlooked again, I approached then Education Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak who immediately gave his consen. Tang finally got the promotion he deserved in 1997."

Dr Koh said that Anwar was very unhappy and reminded him that he was the deputy PM and he should not have gone to Najib.

On page 29:

Former Human Resources Minister Tan Sri Lim Ah Lek said Anwar, PKR's de facto leader, was obiviously fishing for votes.

"As an ex-deputy prime minister, he should be more responsible. He shouldn't be saying one thingin front of the Chinese and another thing in from of the Malays," Lim told a press conference at Wisma MCA yesterday.

On page 33:

Datuk Wong, who is the MCA strategist, said what Anwar (then education minister) did was something the Chinese community would never forget.

Wong said the Chinse community protested when the Education Minister sent teachers who were not competent in Mandarin to Chinese primary schools. Anwar did not budge at all.

Abdullah slams Anwar

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim did nothing when he was Education Minister and he sang different tunes before different crowds, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said.

The Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi

The Prime Minister agreed with Dr Chandra Muzaffar's comments on Monday about the former deputy prime minister.

“There is truth in what Dr Chandra said about him (Anwar), based on what he has done before.”

Dr. Chandra(Left) and Anwar(Right)

Dr Chandra gave a harsh comment against Anwar if the latter were to become the prime minister.

That was the unhesitating reply of former Parti Keadilan Nasional deputy president Prof Dr Chandra Muzaffar who broke his silence on his years as Anwar's trusted lieutenant when asked a question on the opposition Parti Keadilan Rakyat's de facto leader at a forum on March 3.

Asked why he was breaking his silence now, Chandra said it appeared that people were being deceived by Anwar.

"It is something for which I am prepared to go on record now so that people will not be deceived," he said.

Chandra, an academician who founded the reform movement Aliran and has also previously been detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA), was among many professionals and intellectuals who formed Keadilan because they were enraged with Anwar's sacking as deputy prime minister, his beating at the hands of then Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Rahim Noor and his subsequent charge for sodomy.
eer advancement for many experienced teachers.

In Kepala Batas, Abdullahsaid Anwar would say different things to different audiences.

Abdullah also agreed with former Gerakan president Datuk Seri Dr Lim Keng Yaik who on Saturday described Anwar as a “chameleon”.

Anwar was speaking in a ceramah.

“Keng Yaik knows Anwar very well. He (Anwar) promised the Indians a lot of things. But what did he do when he was in the Government?” the Prime Minister asked.

Abdullah was commenting on Dr Chandra’s opinion that the country would face “unmitigated disaster” should Anwar become the prime minister.

Dr Chandra had said at The Star-Asian Centre for Media Studies public forum on the General Election 2008 on Monday that Anwar was not the sort of leader the country needed as he was singing a different tune when he was in Government.

On why he finally broke his silence about Anwar who had been criticising the Government during his campaign rounds, Abdullah said: “Whatever is appropriate, I have to say.”

Earlier when launching the I-Pintar interactive programme for rural schools at SK Hashim Awang, the Prime Minister said the Opposition had brought in their jaguh (champion) to hit out at the Government.

“Apa yang Anwar Ibrahim buat selama jadi Menteri Pelajaran? (What did Anwar Ibrahim do when he was Education Minister?)” he asked the crowd.

The Prime Minister then turned to current Education Minister Datuk Hishamuddin Tun Hussein, who was present, and asked him about the two-tier salary scheme that did not move during Anwar’s period.

“During his time, those wanting a promotion had to be education officers although they still loved teaching.

“Now, they do not have to be education officers but can still be super teachers (guru cemerlang) and with a higher salary scale.”

On the Opposition’s price hike campaign line, Abdullah said the pledges made by their leaders were only empty promises and that the country would face inflation and go bankrupt if they were implemented.

He also said the Opposition leaders were trying to fool the people when they said they would reduce fuel price and give RM6,000 each to poor families.

“They just want the rakyat to feel seronok (feel good)

“The Barisan Nasional has never made empty promises. We always deliver our pledges. Tapi bila kita buat, depa buat ronyeh (colloquial Penang dialect that literally translates as “when we want to do it, they disturb our plans”).

“I have never talked about this matter but it is time for me to say it. Naik geram juga (I am upset),” he said.

The above article appeared in The Star today.

Not only the PM, Dr. Chandra, Datuk Seri Dr Lim Keng Yaik hit on Anwar, Nalla also slams Anwar.

Datuk K.S. Nallakaruppan said:”Anwar only cares for himself, I just don’t want him to destroy the nation.”

He said, “Anwar’s goal is to be Prime Minister, and he will do anything to make this happen.

Datuk K.S. Nallakaruppan

He was Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s “closest friend” for almost 30 years and was better known as Anwar’s “tennis partner” when the former deputy prime minister made headlines in 1998.

He even “went to jail for a year for Anwar” stood by his friend after that and gave in to Anwar’s wishes for him to join Parti Keadilan Rakyat 2006.

But now, Datuk K.S. Nallakaruppan is going around campaigning for the Barisan National telling the people that they should not be blinded by Anwar like he was.

“I thought he was a friend but he was a “friendly-user”. No one knows him as well as I do. I can say h only cares about hs own interests.”

What will happen if Tun Dr. Mahathir did not sack Anwar and Anwar later become the PM?d

At that time, interest rate was high and it was difficult for the businessmen to do business because whatever profit made would be eaten up by the interest charged.

The businemen were very unhappy about Anwar because they said Anwar had created that high interest rate environment and doing business was difficult. Maybe if Anwar were to take over, he could just change the policy and everthing would be different.

They said Anwar has changed. He is now multi-racial. What made him changed? Is it political reality or he really believed that he has to change because he wants to make a better Malaysia.

Although Anwar is only the adviser for PKR and he even did not stand for election because of the statutory restriction.

But if PKR can win the election, Datin Seri Wan Azizah Ismail could just resign to pave the way for Anwar's take over. If Anwar could be in power, he could do whatever he wants to do.

What will he do is what we want to know? Will he do whatever he pledged?

In politic, it is just very interesting. When you said something, there will be response and feed-back. You can only know the truth if you think real hard.

Wee Choo Keong said in his statement as follows:

Dr Chandra Muzaffar, a self-proclaimed intellectual and arm-chair critic of BN of yesteryears, suddenly saw it fit to allow himself to be manipulated by the Barang Naik party to cast malicious aspersion against Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and to indirectly influence Malaysians not to support the opposition.

Wee Choo Keong was campaigning.

This is, for all intent and purpose, an affront to basic freedom and democracy.

For a start, Chandra is just an intellectual fraud. He only pays lip-service to words like freedom and democracy.

In 1998/99 I was sacked from the DAP under strange circumstances and many other DAP leaders throughout the nation resigned from the DAP. At the same time, we were thinking of joining PKR in order to carry on our struggles against injustices, corruptions and abuses of power. During that period, Chandra was the Deputy President of PKR and he, as unreasonable as it was, saw it fit to make a unilateral declaration that all former DAP leaders were banned from joining PKR.

To say the least, this behaviour of his was absolutely bizarre and mind-boggling.

We were extremely shocked and disappointed with Chandra, whom we thought was a real democrat and a great defender of freedom and injustice. After the said infamous declaration of his putting a blanket-ban on former DAP leaders from joining PKR, we knew then that Chandra was merely an arm-chair critic and intellectual fraud when it comes to freedom and democracy.

Whatever Chandra had uttered last night at the forum organised by The Star was not unexpected given his past record. And those utterances should be consigned to the foul-smelling garbage bins much like his mouth at the time surely.

Moreover, Chandran’s vile gibberish of last night was also verbiage and an obvious act of sabotage against the people of this country.

Wee Choo Keong asked chandra to stop insulting the intelligence of the pubic

We call upon Chandra to carry on being an arm-chair critic in his academic ‘prison’ and to immediately stop insulting the intelligence of the public.

Chandra would also do well to go back to school to re-learn the basic principles of freedom and democracy.

Why two third majority is important?

DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang said even if the opposition parties were able to deny the two third majority, it is only 75 seats, it would not make BN weakening because it still retained 147 seats.

Lim Kit Siang made the above statement whe he was talking to a ceramah in USJ12 Subang Jaya last night. At least two thousand people turned up in the ceramah. Mr Lim has gone down to Batu Pahat, Johore Baru and Malacca to campaign for his candidates earlier in the day and night. When he travelled to USJ12 Subang Jaya, it was about 11.30 pm. And after the ceramah, he immediately rushed back to Ipoh to continue his campaign.

Lim Kit Siang is seen campaigning in Kota Kinabalu.

Why two third majority is important? Because we are due for new constituency delineation. With two third majority, the opposition parties could oppose the
"gerrymandering" tactic adopted by BN to achieve its advantage in the composition of the voters.

Note: Gerrymandering:manipulate a constituency, etc by division into voting areas so as to give unfair advantages to one party or class in elections, practise trickery.

Other election news are as follows:

KUALA TERENGGANU: Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi admits that he would fail as a good Muslim leader if he were to deprive non-Muslims in the country equal opportunities and quality education.

Citing verses from the Quran, Abdullah said it was his paramount obligation as a Muslim head of state to see to it that non-Muslims develop under his leadership.

“Even Prophet Muhammad had ensured that the minorities under his care were not deprived, even though they were not Muslims during his era.

“My responsibility to aid every Malaysian regardless of their religion, and quality education should also reach Chinese- and Tamil-type schools,” he said when addressing some 2,000 Islamic scholars and teachers at Wisma Darul Iman here on Mar 1.

The PM Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Abdullah said the needs of the minorities and non-Muslims should also not be ignored by other Muslim leaders.

“They should listen and provide the necessary remedies, that’s good leadership professed by Islam,” he said.

Abdullah added that the Muslims in the country were dubbed as the “enlightened” ones by foreigners who perceived them as the more moderate and reasonable lots.

“Let us preserve this and focus on developing Muslims to greater heights without wasting time on ridiculous propagandas issued by certain bigots,” he said.

Abdullah said there were some quarters who were spreading messages that Muslims who were involved in mega projects brought by the Barisan government would obliterate their faith and this was against the teaching of Islam.

Later, Abdullah launched the SMK and SJK (C) Chung Hwa Wei Sin development projects here.

The election commission has cancelled the use of indelible ink in the coming election citing security reason. Apparently there are people who have imported the indelible ink from nearby countries. 4 people have been questioned because of police reports made between Feb 16 to 21 in Kelantan, Perlis and Kedah.
Ipoh Cabbie association will make available 50 taxis to ferry voters to polling stations on Saturday, free of charge.

Ongoing bad weather in rural Sarawak may force polling stations to close early on Saturday with all parties on backup measures.

PM's tenure is full of sucess stories

PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi says his four- year tenure is not a period of failure but full of success stories and development and he wants this trend to continue.

Second Finance Minister Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop said Petronas has to explore overseas markets for its survival, and to provide financing to the government for development and various subsidies to the rakyat.

"Petronas has to look for new resources, as our natural oil and gas reserves are expected to run out by 2011.

"This reinvestment effort comes at a huge cost, and we cannot simply stop Petronas from expanding just for the sake of a quick fix for global petrol price hikes. If we take out RM10 billion from the Petronas dividend to further subsidise price of petrol, we will deny the company an opportunity to expand," he said.

Is Ong Ka Ting buidling a Ong Brothers political empire?

They said if you wanted to read about DAP, just go to MCA website and if you want to learn about MCA, go to DAP website.

Only the oponent will tell you more about the other party.

DAP adviser, Lim Kit Siang called a media conference this after at DAP Ipoh Timur OPs centre, alleging that MCA president Ong Ka Ting is building up of a Ong Brothers political empire in the MCA over the bodies of MCA leaders, including Ministers and parliamentarians.

Lim said Ong should heed the rumble of discontent in MCA for his action.

Let me just quote what Lim Kit Siang had said in his statement appearing in his blog:

Two MCA Ministers had recently fallen by the wayside – Chan Kong Choy and Chua Soi Lek. Who is really responsible for their downfall?

Chan must be held responsible for the RM4.6 billion Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal, the biggest financial scandal in the Abdullah premiership which is even bigger than Mahathir’s first mega financial scandal, the RM2.5 billion Bumiputra Malaysia Finance scandal 25 years ago!

Chan cannot escape accountability for the RM4.6 billion PKFZ scandal, but it is unfair if he is alone left to “eat dead cat” as the entire Cabinet, including Ka Ting, cannot shirk responsibility as well.

Is it true that Ka Ting is the reason why Chan dropped as a MCA candidate in the 2008general election?

Who was responsible for the political “killing” of MCA National Vice Chairman and Health Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Chua Soi Lek over the sex videotape scandal?

This is not an outside job but a MCA high-level operation. Was Ka Ting responsible for Chua’s removal from the MCA front-line of contenders for the top political post in MCA?

Be that as it may, Ka Ting should not try to distract attention from his MCA troubles by hurling defamatory allegations against DAP leaders.

Whether Ong Ka Ting is building a Ong Brothers political empire is yet to be known because only time will tell. After the general eletion is the MCA party election, you can just find out because everything will be in the open. Now, everone just want to win the general election. They said the country first then the party.

I have just checked the MCA website and found an article listing out 8 offenses of DAP as follows:

1. Talk only but no action
2. undemocratic
3. report card empty on Chinese education
4. collaborate with PAS
5. Fight for seats with Party Keadilan
6. The Eunuch's politics
7. Hanging the goat's head but selling dog's meat
8. Chinese against the Chinese

It is interesting to see how DAP and MCA fight and hitting at each other, but most important thing is the people must benefit. At the end of the day, we must vote wisely and let the right party in charge so that the country will move forward.
